True, but there aren't any 3P seekers that have dynamic posing, at least that I'm aware of. I'm sure that TT is looking to blow FT out of the water on this effort. That said, I'll be keeping my Phoenix.

Ehr what? Maketoys Seekers can do all sorts of dynamic posing. And yes they can bend at the waist. They also have waist rotation.

Edit: Should have said that the TT seekers don't have waist rotation.

Jetfire is my favorite of all time, it was my first transformer and to this day FT mold is one of my favorites. Mine is not going anywhere yet, I am not making the error many people did with hound. If takara brings the goods and it’s not charging a gazillion bucks I will gladly get it, and FT will live in alt mode.

Actually, it’s a current photo. Their copy of MP44 couldn’t stand because of broken knees. I kid, I kid.

I enjoy the heroic/menacing stature of FT bots because they look more like how my little mind imagined them to be back in the day. I understand the desire for toon accuracy, but this is just my personal preference.

I like it and will buy it.

I also want a masterpiece 80's style Jetfire (not Skyfire).

Is it fair to think the rights holders of Macross would pounce all over an attempted homage - and therefore not worth the trouble? Or is there no demand? Because I still think that Valkyrie design is damn near unbeatable.

Seeing how long it took Big West and Harmony Gold took to settle their Robotech/Macross licensing issues, I don’t think Takara wants any part of that headache.

You could buy a Bandai Dx VF-1S and customize it. This beauty belongs to sparkimusprime but it can be done.

I think it's still highly unlikely that an official full-on Macross Jetfire could ever happen, but Harmony Gold did recently open up the Macross license to the rest of the world outside of Japan so hopefully it'll at least become a little easier to acquire official Macross figures soon. There's also a company that makes high-quality Macross KOs, and I'm a little surprised they haven't made a Jetfire-colored one yet. Maybe they're worried it'd attract too much attention.

This is the most amazing representation of the G1 Jetfire toy I have seen to date, a true masterpiece!

Hats off to @sparkimusprime for attempting this and succeeding at it. I have this figure as well but have not got up the courage to tackle mine yet. I certainly need a few more tools at my disposal before doing so.

Fictionally, the pilot seat is supposed to rotate so that the pilot faces forward. The toy itself normally has an opaque heat shield over the glass so you can't see the pilot.

Cheers... that's exactly why I needed to see the full figure. It does look too big... and yet it still seems to manage the impressive feat of being both loose when on the head, whilst also being too tight. It wobbles a bit, but look at all that paint scratching... as well as the nose, look at the blue on the crest - scratched to bits. And that's before even mentioning the poor fit of the antennas.

But the one thing that bugs me from a purely aesthetic point of view is that even though I know the face sculpt is accurate from a 'toon/comic point of view, and the helmet is accurate to the G1 toy, I don't like that the eyes and visor don't line up.

Glad I didn't pull the trigger.

i find it funny how people bashed phoenix for no waist rotation calling the figire wooden and then the official looks like it won't even have it :lol  but i will most likely buy takara's myself but torn on whether to sell pheonix or keep it for the alt mode ( or keep phoenix in robot mode and have takara's in alt )

No waist swivel is weird... But Phoenix was an early 3P product. Newer products should have it... But then again I hardly use it on my MP-44.

Nor do humans use it a lot. Maybe in baseball ;)

Humans waists don't swivel at all. the spine twists, and it just happens to bring some of the soft muscle and flesh along with it. I almost never use a waist swivel, but if something can have a mid-torso twist, it can be useful.

Hehehe, shows I know more about baseball than medicine.

As for robots, it breaks up the mold so it always looks a bit strange to me.
