I've got at least 4 of these pieces just laying around because I've upgraded my sideswipe molds with nonnef weapons, so not an issue for me at least. Plus with at least 7 variants of the mold, the parts are easy enough to come by

It is cannonically g1 grimlock. He, alongside some autobots and decepticons, downsized into maximal and predacon bodies

He was aboard the axalon when it crashed, for some reason

His head is inspired by the bw dinobot toy headsculpt, since grimlock was a repaint of toy dinobot, no retooling

 

The art does actually show a gradual fade to white on the arms, they're not solid grey.

Comics sadly. Magmatron was sent to earth to take megs back, but had a maximal spy amongst his crew. He planned to forcibly convert the maximal protos to predacon, but razorback saw to it some retained their maximal allegiance. It was later shown grimlock was amongst them. He later on joined lio convoys gang, and argued with a transmetal 2 ravage. The comic also explains why cybertron was suspecting to megatrons invasion
Edit: turns out he was forced to do so, which peeved him off. He chose the most insane missions, and had his reformatting chip only choose the most ferocious beasts. According to the bw sourcebooks

He quite literally has spots tho? You can look at the picture yourself, there are multiple black spots painted on his dino mode's grey area, they clearly tried to reimagine the spotted motif in a different way that fit the line's "realistic animal mode' design style. Also lol at "let it go stop talking to me" when you got replied to like twice?? AFTER stating that "We, as a community, need to discuss this" ??? Why do you even come to a public board?
