Which RX-78 is that? Also saw that threezero revealed their unit 00, looking forward to having all 3 on my shelf. Hopefully more are coming I really want a unit 13 that is not a model kit and not 500$
There's the Robot Damashii coming out but that has only now entered planning so it will be a while till we see a prototype Edit: Oh and there’s also the Revoltech
HG Beyond Global However the HG GTO is more fun and blends better with the rest of the collection, BG is very stylized. It does look great. I'm praying that in the Bandai RG line we get Unit 13, The Vessel of Adam, Amaros, Unit 01 Type F, Super Evangelion unit 01 and others. I doubt most Angels could be recreated in model form
That big black and red one looks like something out of MuvLuv. I keep waiting for Bandai to make the inevitable "TV Versions" of Unit 01, 00, and 02 as P.Bandai Exclusives. Unit 03 and 06 are in development now, anticipating 03 being remolded in silver for Unit 04.
Would the tV ver be that different besides proportions? Might need to be a completely different mold if they are true tV ver and have the tv proportions
Even though there is a significant difference between the designs of the Evas in the development of the TV series compared with their Rebuild incarnations, it wouldn't likely be a factor. The Real Grade kits are already their own standard, they just need the right colors. I would suspect there would be necessary changes made but nothing that would dramatically alter the existing molds. TV Unit 2 doesn't have that battleship bow crest on its forehead, so that would be the likely modification. Not to mention all of the Rebuild designs have their secondary color on the middle link of armor around their midrif. Green on Unit 01, white on all the others. I've been wrong before when it comes to speculating about which kits might come out. I don't know if TV colors will ever exist in Real Grade, but Kotobukiya has most of the television versions handled already, so Bandai seems soley focused on making kits based on Rebuild.
After months of waiting for the preorder to ship, and a couple weeks of it wandering the country on a merry, nonsensical road trip with FedEx, my Threezero Eva finally showed up. And holy crap, it’s so, so good. My only nitpick is that poseability is merely very good, rather than excellent. Thighs could use a bit more rotation, torso could crunch a little further, shoulders are a tiny bit restricted. But those complaints pale in comparison to the positives. It’s big (but not too big). It’s fucking HEAVY. Paint’s gorgeous, it glows in the dark, and it comes with a bazillion nicely-constructed accessories that will live in the box until the heat-death of the universe, taking up valuable closet space. How this thing was only $120, I do not know.
Glad you finally got it and love it! I totally forgot it glows in the dark. I’ll have to bask in the glowy goodness of mine tonight.
I forgot that even though the full scale Shizuoka Hobby Show was cancelled there is still an event taking place with a virtual display. Looks like Kotobukiya will continue to make kits from the Rebuild Films. Their next kit is the Unit-02 Alpha. Also it seems according to Dengeki Hobby, Koto will also be making a kit for Shin Ultraman as well.
For anyone who was curious about how well the joints stand up to the weight of all that metal (but really, just wanted an excuse to take some more pictures of it).
The existence of these took away the sting of not being able to get a hold of the Metal Builds, with Bandai's obscenely narrow availability windows/low production runs. The fact that I can get almost two of the 3As for the price of one Metal Build is also a huge upside.
Oh, but you do. You soooooo do. I spent literally 20 years waiting on Just The Right Eva before pulling the trigger, and I really think this one’s as close to perfect as it’s gonna get for the foreseeable future. Cannot overstate how beautifully constructed it is, and the cost-vs-quality calculus makes it an absolute no brainer. The only toy I own that beats it is the SOC Voltron, and even that’s not the blowout victory you’d expect.
