The history book alone would be like $40 if it was released in stores. Plus, there's the soundtrack, the posters, the replica original game boxes, etc.

What they really need to do is release every single Castlevania game ever made in one single epic box set. All the console games. The arcade game. The handheld games. All of it. Even the Lords of Shadow trilogy. Toss it all in.

I’m not sure what the reasoning is to exclude so many CV games, but it would be nice to have them all in one place.

Both arcade games :)  There's "Haunted Castle" and then there's a House of the Dead type game with a light-gun-like whip controller.

Konami. They were only allowed to do a physical release of the games Konami did in some digital collection.

That is an awesome set, but way out of my price range.

I prefer 1 collection at a time. My wallet can only handle so much misery. ;)

I didn’t know that! I’ll have to check it out.

Man that sounds like some legal junk. It’s a shame too, because all the classic ones have been re-released multiple times now. But there’s so many that came out post-Genesis that have yet to get any re-release.

Lol but if it were just a collection of the games and not any extras, it might not be so bad!

Yeah, I would love to get to play SotN with the superior dub on the TV along with the Rondo of Blood remake and the GBA/DS games.

Limited Run is kind of like the Criterion for video games (something we sadly need these days), but they're only able to make physical copies of digital games.

That's how No More Heroes 1 and 2 are getting physical Switch releases as well before the third one comes out later on this year.

That's the typical arrangement, but it's not strictly (heh) that way. It's rare, but they've done physical (re)releases of games for older consoles that aren't available on digital download platforms. Kira Kira Star Night DX for NES would be a recent example. What is strictly true is they're a publisher, not a developer. They're handling physical manufacturing, and making all the cool packaging and extras. They don't work on the software, even if it's just ROMs and an emulator like in the case of the Castlevania Anniversary Collection.

What they could do, that I hope Konami will allow after this, is reissue some of the harder-to-find Castlevania games individually, on their original platforms. E.g. cartridges of Bloodlines on Genesis, Dracula XX on SNES, Kid Dracula on NES, and newly pressed CD-ROMs of Rondo of Blood for Turbo Duo, etc.

I've been debating this set. It seems like a very nice collection to pick up, but I think I'm just not a big enough classic Castlevania fan for it.

On the other hand, I am a Castlevania fan, but I can't see a reason why I'd want it for my PS4/5 when I played most of Castlevania on Nintendo systems. That soundtrack disc, though... I wonder how much of the music it has. I'd really dig some of the Dracula's Curse music.

There is a Switch version. I just personally prefer to have any non-exclusives on my Playstations since that is the console I go for first. Plus, I've had some subscribers ask me for a Castlevania video and the Playstation makes it easy for me to acquire my own gameplay footage thanks to the Share button stuff. I can't do that on the Switch.

Is the collection version of 3 the NES or Famicon version?
Why would they ever do this? It would cost more than it would be worth.

Limited Run is about to start shipping the physical Game Boy Color carts of Shantae that they took preorders for last year. In recent weeks, they were taking orders for three brand new NES carts. They published a working physical NES cart of Jay & Silent Bob: Mall Brawl. Not too long ago, they were selling reissues of Sega CD games. In association with Retro-Bit, they've sold reissues of MetalStorm, both SNES R-Type games, an entire boxed set of Toaplan games for Sega genesis, and several others. The regular editions without all the fancy collector memorabilia has typically been around $50ish--more or less, depending on the platform. If you look at what these games (Bloodlines, any version of Dracula X) cost on the secondary market, it would indeed be worth it.

As a side note, that Jay & Silent Bob game for the NES comes from Toma, who used to post right here in this forum. I tried to @ him, but I don't see his name listed anymore.

What's funny is there's been so many ports of SoTN, but I'm still waiting for a legit one to play on Steam. At this rate, it wouldn't matter to me if it was the original dub for the PSP one.

Konami is weird about porting stuff to PC. Most of their ports from PS2 to the original Xbox got further ported to PC (Silent Hill 2-4, Metal Gear Solid 2 - Substance)... but they skipped Castlevania - Curse of Darkness. :(
