For God's sake, stop with the whole "Voyager being sold as a Commander". Rodimus CLEARLY has more pieces and articulation than Earthrise Optimus (who already was one of the Voyagers with the most articulation and parts). He's basically one of those 3P figures that are sold at $80+ and that's WITHOUT the trailer.

I have some issues with the figure (omitting the paint on the wheels is just inexplicable) but in terms of what the release contains, there's no doubt that he justifies his price.

 

Imma 50/50 on that face sculpt tbh. If a third party company releases a replacement that looks more like the animation model, I'd be down to get it. If not, eh no worries.

 

Unless we really know about that we can't assume is unpaintable.

(Seriously, when is the last time they used "unpaintable" wheels?)

Rodimus is looking good, especially scaled next to Optimus! I just wish Galvatron was not so BIG! I can see the two in my display looking somewhat like this.

The different is ER OP is retooling from Siege, while Rodimus is not, but somehow people accuse him of being retool of SS86 Hotrod, while also being in scale with ER Optimus, Leader Galvy, Core Rattrap, and I dunno what else

This. He’s a bit taller (which matches the G1 cartoon pretty well) but he is a lot beefier. Size-wise I’d say the robot alone just edges it into Leader class, and that’s not including the engineering and mass which may take it well into what is expected of a Leader.

On top of that you’ve got a a large trailer with plenty of storage space, compartments, and a great big portable fold-up cannon. Take that all together and we’re in Commander scale.

Yeah, I know I’m repeating what others have already said. But if the negative stuff can be repeated again and again, so can the positive.

But they did just that! It’s exactly the same as the POTP, just with leg extenders! Don’t let the extra box and the completely different engineering fool you! That’s just gimmicks, man.

Edit: just occurred to me that my gag about him being POTP Rodimus with leg extenders falls a bit flat...cos that figure was actually quite big in full Rodimus mode, wasn’t he? (I never owned him, but I got that impression.) He had his faults but size wasn’t one of them. The joke would have worked better with SS86, but I wanted the gag to be about one that doesn’t look that good....and SS86 is magnificent.

No, I’m just kidding. They do look huge in that picture. I think the foreshortening makes them look proportionally larger than they are, and Optimus’s smaller hands don’t help.

This reminds me of MP-44 Prime V3. The trailer and accessories have a huge amount of parts and joints. It's like having an entire second figure in the box. When you handle the trailer you can see why it costs so much. Rodimus looks similar. The trailer has large plastic parts and lots of joints which means assembly time at the factory. So it's like having a second figure in the box.

 

I would like to see what Hasbro would sell Rodimus for without the trailer like MP-49 with MP-44, just so we can actually see how much more the trailer costs rather than speculate on it.

More like it split into two, the "outside" (or the uhhh one you see front) split with the "inside" (the rolling part?), you can see it on his bot mode where it's flat, where it's thick in the alt mode.
