I was originally going to skip Selects Hot Shot, but the idea of making upgrade parts for him overwhelmed me, and I ended up snagging him after all. Initially I was just going to try printing this set: [Siege Hound Rifle and Rifle Mounts] but once I'd done so, I wasn't quite satisfied. I used the gun barrels from the rifles and a modified version of the piece that connects them together on the figure's back, then built everything else from scratch in 3D Builder. I didn't try to exactly match the original designs, but I did take heavy inspiration. The parts I added are as follows: Backpack/gun mount (modified from JCUSTOMHEADS3's set) Twin "recoil-less rifles"/rocket pods (using just the barrel from the rifle in that set) Shoulder-mounted rocket pods Leg-mounted rocket pods Combat knife Arm fillers/fuel tanks I thought about making a cyber key for him too, but the "spare tire" piece he comes with stands in for that very nicely. A big part of the original toy's appeal was the hidden weapons gimmick, so everything hides away, with some working better than others. The shoulder ones in particular gave me trouble, especially with the hinge needing to be so small. My printer wasn't really up to it. Likewise, I had some trouble printing the knife smoothly. And, well, my paint work leaves something to be desired. But I am really very happy with the outcome all the same. The knife can be mounted lots of ways, including arm mounted like the original figure (sort of), strapped to the leg, or inserted into the toy's small gun for a sword mode. A more subtle addition is the silver "fuel tank" cylinders that the original figure had on its outer arms/undercarriage. I made an abbreviated version of those, which sit in about the same place in vehicle mode on the Selects figure, and are on the inner arms in robot mode, functioning as gap fillers. The original had a Minicon port, but I made a peghole instead. To my great relief, I discovered that (other than the twin guns backpack) none of the parts needed to be removed to transform him to vehicle mode, and everything stays nicely in place with minimal compromises and nothing dragging the ground.
Nice work! Wish I had one of those, but I hadn’t gotten back in at that point. Like the functionality of that kit though. Looks good.
Nice! I designed that original set that you based your version off of! It's nice to see people use my designs, even in a modified form. I'd actually planned on making similar additions later on as well, but just haven't gotten around to it
It was an excellent inspiration! I actually did print your original design unmodified to start with. It sparked my creativity.
Looks nice! Even though this is obviously cybertron defense hotshot, it is giving off scattershot vibes with all of those yellow missiles. Is 3d builder the 3d program that comes with wondows 10?
That's the program, yeah. Simple, but very useful! I love Scattorshot too. Cybertron had so many great designs.
Decided to finally put these parts I designed ages ago out for people to enjoy. I made a small change before I did though. The cannon mount assembly now has a slot for a cyber key!
