It's a surprising amount of difference. Different leg detail, different spoilers... Plus, I think it's a completely new torso. His arms are even on new hinges that sit above the shoulder, suggesting there's a difference in transformation.

 

So, I was curious about pre ordering it, since I don't have the money rn but do want to get it. I followed the link to Amazon.com and saw the release was November, and I was like "yes! I'll have plenty of time to save up!". But then when I went to Amazon.ca, I saw it was July? So which is it?

 

I hope we get Sideswipe and Skywarp next Tuesday. We can see Skywarp's wings on the box.

 

Okay so he's likely going to come with Sideswipe.

But also if the leaked two pack of Sideswipe and Nightprowler is still true, then it might be G2 Sideswipe.

 

Grimlock looks MUCH cooler than I thought he would. I think I want him more than Mirage somehow.

 

Oh my god.... they completely replaced his chest, arms, lower legs, and alt mode. I’m really impressed!

 

Wow, the new shoulders and arm transformation for Mirage really does wonders for the alt mode, and the new molding for the car body makes the legs look better in bot mode. I like the Siege one fine, but I may have to cave and get this one too.

Also, loving the colors and new head on Grimlock. I don't usually do repaints, but this one looks worth the effort.

Because it's still G1 Grimlock just as a Maximal, but Beast Wars Megatron is a different character from G1 Megatron.

 

For Mirage I prefer the lower arm colour, but the upper elbow is weird and the shoulders are blue instead of black (although paint could amend that). The front bumper and spoiler should definitely be silver rather than white, which is a pain to paint. It also seems that he doesn't have shoulder ports for his rocket launcher, which I really hope isn't the case. Otherwise the new streamlined altmode is really cool. As for Grimlock, really don't like the colour changes. I can stand the lack of dalmatian dots as it is rather unusual for a dinosaur (probably), but the two-tone tail, legs and arms are weird. Have to see whether Mirage has the launcher port first.

 

yeah, the more I look at him, I think there's much more "new" then vestigial... It's just that the Seige version was so endemic of Siege's "not quite Cybertronian/not quite Earth" alt mode philosophy that he doesn't feel that different. I was surprised to note even the chest seems to be all or mostly new.

 

Well this was a massive disappointment.

 

Yeah, pretty sure Uprising Grimlock a T30 Springer repaint with his BW deco, which not gonna lie would probably be a cool selects or custom

 

Mirage is better for dropping the clear plastic alone, and the toy head for Grimlock is great. Wonder if we will get toy style Selects reissues for some Kingdom BW figures.
