Why? They’re trying for show scale (more or less). He was pretty short in the show. The toy was big, granted..
It was a good seller, though, especially in comparison to what Beast Machines was doing. A lot of people forget that. But Armada blew it out of the water, outselling the entirety of G1's run.
I can see it now: the franchise’s two big saviors: Beast Wars and Armada come together and make Beast Wars: the Mini-Con Battles And the Mini-Cons are all based on mythical animals and grant their partners elemental powers or other abilities like invisibility
Yup. RiD 2001 was very successful, it’s just that Armada took it to another level. RiD 2001 was so successful that Hasbro scrambled to expand the line past its original plan. It doesn’t matter that it was just a “filler” line that was brought over until Armada was ready to launch. I do agree that BW, Armada and ‘07 Movie were the tent poles that revitalized the franchise though. I don’t think you can put BB movie in that category but I do think it succeeded in bringing in a new generation of little kid fans. In ten years those brats will show on these boards telling us to stop spending our social security checks on more Generations G1 redo figures. Oh and there’ll be complaining that Hasbro doesn’t want to celebrate Robot Heroes anniversary too.
Looking at the group picture of the show, he was about as tall as Black Arachnia, but he was also hunched over like a caveman.
No he wasn't. Scorponok, Waspinator and Tarantulas were all around the same average height, with Scorponok looking a bit shorter than the other 3 because he was sort of hunchbacked. He was at least as tall as Black Arachnia hunched over, not shorter. The smallest characters on each team were S1 Rattrap for the Maximals and Blackarachnia for the Predacons, with Rattrap edgeing out Black Arachnia by a bit of height and overall mass. Everyone else, including Quickstrike and Scorponok were slightly taller than them.
I don't want him to be a Voyager, but others do because the old toy was. Which I think is irrelevant for a toyline aiming for show accuracy. He should be at least as tall as the other Kingdom Deluxes.
Well maybe 3rd parties will do our boy justice because Hasbro did him dirty. Or Takara can make a Masterpiece version.
