i think tax235 was just giving his opnion on the value of the magnum 44 if it was AFA graded. I just have not seen a Magnum 44 graded before so i did not think it was possible. I paid the seller for the brawl that I bidded on and got the magnum instead.

    the brawl:

I wouldn't send it. No tape = no grade = they keep your money anyway (from what I've heard).

AFA is a crapshoot run by apparent scam artists that should not be dealt with - too many horror stories.

P.S. This whole thing smacks of dishonesty - I'd at least wait for the seller to contact you (or vice-versa) before selling what is not supposed to be yours.

Well then, if that's true, I'd call finders keepers at this point.

I still wouldn't let the AFA touch it with a ten-foot-pole, though.

Sorry I couldn't reply yesterday, work issues.

There are some things that look off between yours and mine but it could all be due to lighting/photo annomolies:

Box - color on the back seems to be a darker yellow and the "ST" trademark on yours is a little larger.

Toy - the chamber where the bullets go looks like a different color than the rest of the toy. It can be a little lighter but yours looks to be much lighter. I also don't see any writing or markings on the barrel. I've seen a mix of this so I'm not sure if it's really anything to be concerned about. Two that I've seen were the real deal and didn't have any writing, every other one has. This could just be different runs of the toy.

The box art spacings and design are correct and the styrofoam cutout and toy placement is spot on.

In seeing something like this, honestly, I'd be almost hesitant about it because it's in such good shape.

If it is an original then it shouldn't have any factory tape (at least from what I've seen...about 5-6 of these MIB at various conventions..but I may be wrong) and if that's the case then AFA may not grade it. Send them an email and ask; their website does state if a toy never had factory tape to begin with, they will consider grading it (quote: Do you grade packaged toys that are not sealed?
AFA will grade certain items which never came factory sealed, provided the items are in new and unused condition. AFA can also grade boxed items that are no longer factory sealed (i.e. the tape has been broken or come loose) as long as the boxed item has an interior sealed bubble and all the contents (paperwork) are stilled sealed in their bags.)

Nonetheless, thanks for putting a link to pictures up here (that's what I wanted to see). I'd guess if he's the genuine article that he'd be worth quite a bit, especially since he's so minty. I'd highly recommend putting him in a plastic case, you can get them at The Container Store or most hobby shops.

Do some searches on completed ebay auctions to get a good price range. They fluctuate on this particular toy (I paid $200 for mine a few years ago but another one a week later sold for $500) so it's worth the time to check.

    Good luck.

Yeah, I've heard that before, that's why I wasn't 100% on it. The ones I've seen are few and far between and have been over the course of years - so I really didn't have a solid basis for comparison on factory tape. Thanx.

Then why not sell it to a fellow Transformer fan for a fair and mutually agreeable price? Im not in the market for a MISB Magnum, but somebody here probably is.

well it seemed longer. didnt really pay attention.

as the tape issue goes. the vintage and diaclone toys did not come with factory tape. i did some research. If it did it was probably done so by the vendor at the time.
