I'm in the white legs camp, not only because of cartoon-accuracy but also because Optimus is a good ol' American cowboy and he SHOULD be red, white and blue. (And I deleted the Oxford comma there because Oxford ain't 'Murica.) But I agree that if he's got white legs, ALL the chrome parts should be white! That cel-shaded version is gorgeous, and does so much to show off all the detailing that is lost otherwise. Very saddened to hear about all the problems with the official MP-44... I feel justified in having given up Masterpiece in favor of the main lines. I ain't paying five hundred bucks for an Optimus with shoddy knees.
If the toon looks white to you, why did you replace the white version? Choice at the time? For fixes they supposedly implemented? Just curious. I like the way he looks either way but I always saw the white color as their way to depict chrome so it never occurred to me that he actually had white parts. Anyway, still waiting on mine. Ordered him with an extra trailer from TF Safari on the 24th, it didn't process till the 30th because the break they were on. Both items were immediately shipped and updating at the same time till they got to Shanghai sorting facility and the trailer kept going and fast as its here scheduled for delivery today, 1 week! Outstanding!! But prime is just getting ready to depart for the U.S. How'd they get so separated? Oh well next week.
i was against going with the silver leg version originally, but i recently got mmc optus pexus, and i rly like how his colors go with the silver, so now im a little less against it. still hoping another company comes out with a better quality ko before i inevitably buy one
Or TT does a reissue. Hell, is there an already-issued MP that folks want reissued/revised more? (Maybe MP-36...)
Yes that's the best option really. But what worries me with TT is their price tag and the fact they have "revised" the MP-44's knee design on MP-49 making it worse. I don't want that updated knee design on MP-44's reissue if it ever comes out.
Well, the tracking info for mine updated and is being returned to sender! What a pain in the ass some of the shipping issues are lately. I notified them and waiting to hear back, maybe they'll be cool and just ship another to get the ball rolling instead of waiting on the return. That's probably wishful thinking. The trailer is cool though! Still can't get over that it got here in a week.
Dose that early translucent white legged/eared version you quoted still float around, or was that a proto?

Anyone ever see it/they sell anywhere? The knees must be hell, but the clear windows, and the white plastic intrigues me enough to want to own it too.
It's not common at all for the prototypes to be sold so I would say no. I dont know why they kept using those prototype pics to advertise the final product.
Unless they announce a reissue, they aren't making more of the white leg versions. Hopefully they'll fix some of the issues and bring it back, though I'm not super hopeful.
Idk mine is pretty good. Had to do some work on the tabs on the legs and did the gluing of the one piece in the knees it was good. Nothing really on the top half except I probably did something as I couldn't find the clearance for the head so just took it off to be safe. Alt mode tabs it fine by the looks of it. Kinda wish I had the white leg version
