Ohhh, gotcha. Misread   Stratotanker stands fine as well... he has huge, flat, boat feet. He has a little toe up, but no toe down

He stands fine but just be aware there's some odd spacing between the outward hip ratchets. Nothing to be concerned about and he's still easy to pose, but it does feel a little funky.

What's particularly special about a metallic version of Stratotanker?
I wasn't exaclty blown away by the first release. The old derpy XTB/KFC face and floppy joints in bot mode left much to be desired.

 

He’s not an example of an excellent figure to me, but he does the job of filling the spot!! He just feels like a figure designed a few years back, if that makes sense ...

 

Yeah he looks fine to me, appearance-wise at least, and I doubt we'll see another take on Octane anytime soon. Hopefully the metallic version will be put together better than the original apparently was.

Wish there was a good ghost Starscream figure to pair him with, though.

 

Yes, Please. There have been dozens of repaints and retools from the seeker molds, but no Ghost Starscream.

I'm kinda tempted by this guy but most comments about it seem to be that it's a bit of a mess?

 

I would also like to add this character (Octane) to my kollekziooon, but i doubt this KFC version would be the one. This is definitely one of those characters that needs proper presentation.

 

I watched Bobby's review of it and I feel it looks decent. The engineering/transformation doesn't seem too mental. And I'm sure there will be better tolerances in this new release

 

Well the extra faces sweeten it a bit, yeah I would hope tolerance would be improved

 

Hmmm tempted by this, but I'm waiting to see how and indeed if they improve upon the original. I think Stratotanker is cruelly underrated, but it definitely has its flaws and I'm hoping they make it a bit more solid overall. New face sculpts help as well, as that was definitely a weak point in the original. You know, I'm still amazed they managed to engineer a detachable trailer and cab for truck mode... That's insane on a triple changer with such disparate alt modes.

Anyway, I'm hoping this leads to an improved re-issue of Ditka as well, preferably one that can stand up under it's own power. And can actually move its arms properly. And doesn't have exploding feet. And has better colours, not that revolting "camels arse" shade of brown.

 

a few weeks ago I was really kicking myself for missing this, now I'm pumped because this new release should be the best version and I think the design is spot on.

 

Yeah, this is one of those weird figures where I can objectively see a lot of flaws (the floppy hips and ankles are ATROCIOUS) and the face is slightly meh, but I love his overall look. The sculpt is a great blend of toon accuracy with a bit of extra detail, and the colors just look great. If the issues are fixed, I'll definitely get this guy.

And add me to the list of folks who'd love a Ditka with a few improvements and the right colors.

 

For me at least, extra faces coming with Octane are a nice touch that really fix what we used to have, and then also hopefully we could see QC with this issue be better than the original to boot.
