You know, just ONE time, I want to see one of these shooters go on the run. I DON'T want more people to die, but shooters dying at the exact scene of the shooting is too much the norm.
Well, I actually get angry, because most of the time they (the shooters) shoot themselves. That's letting them have their way. It pisses me off. Like dark_mullet said, just once I'd like to see one of them try to get away after pulling a stunt like this.
Problem with that though is that all school shooters are suicidal. They don't care if they live or die. So unless one has a last minute revelation that they want to live, I doubt that a shooter running away will ever happen.
This really makes me sad at the lack of campus security across our nation. I sure hope all those students that were injured make it though.
Well one does have to consider how often this happens. While there may be a bunch of these in the news, in comparison of how much it DOESN'T happen, it's a VERY rare event. And really, when someone is so set on dying, and taking out people with them, no amount of security in the world can stop it. THere's virtually an unlimited amount of ways to get past/around/away from security. If anything, it's thanks to the security at the school that it didn't escalate further, so one has to be thankful for that.
It's not so much a lack of security (although that is a factor) as it is the simplicity of purchasing fire arms. An 8 year old kid can go out and buy a pistol and take it to school with no questions. What we need to be doing is... 1.) Keeping a better handle on our kids social and emotional lives. 2.) doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to eliminate unregisterd weapons and drugs from our communities. 3.) Offering penalties comenserate to the crimes commited with far less leinency given because of mental illness or emotional problems. Untill our leaders (and I use that term losely) start taking control thing's will only continue to get worse. My payers go out to the victims, their friends and families!!!
http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=5958122 This is my alma mater. It seems 5 are dead now. This really saddens me. I used to pass through that hall all the time on the way to class.
See, this shit wouldn't fly at my campus. More than half of the student body is packing. The moment some crazy asshole even PULLS a gun, he's gonna get dropped. All of that aside though, it pisses me off that shit like this keeps happening.
I graduated from that school back in 2004. I had a class in Cole Hall, and let me tell ya, the room is massive. The shooter killed from the front of the class ... taking out kids who might have had a genuine interest in the material. (not saying that anyone's life is more important due to seating position, but ... you know what I'm getting at)
this is a entrance door. It looks like the gunman was following people around the building and not staying confined to the lecture hall. You can see the buckshot on the glass.
Ya know, I'm gonna come back here later today after hearing more details from the news. Dark Mullet has got me so Pissed right now that I'd wind up getting myself banned if I posted what I really want to say right now. I just hope no one else dies from their injuries from this incident.
There is a serious problem in this country. Only a couple of decades ago, depressed people would kill themselves, not take it out on innocent victims. I think the government should ban the right to own guns. Between criminals and psychopaths, society has proven that it is not responsible enough for the right to bare arms. We need to be like Canada.
