I think those issues were only with the 1st release of the Red one & were later fixed in other releases... could be wrong, it's been awhile & my memory is foggy, but I've never had a single issue with the Blue version.

The waist joint is still super tight. I had to use a worrying amount of force to separate them. Twisting a bit back and forth helps a bit. Just be careful.

Well I got him new from bbts, I think after 4 years the plastic on the internal gray waist clip must have hardened and become brittle because at first it was impossible to separate and then once I did one tab broke off and then the other. I am going to try to return him but since he also has the secondary waste joint I might just try to thicken the peg up so it holds in firmly and use the upper waist joint.

    Any ideas?

This is what I was afraid of happening. I think they had replacement parts at some point but that's probably long gone.

Yeah I think that the gray plastic it's used to clip the feet together and in the waist is kind of a soft plastic that's meant to flex but it's definitely become brittle over time. It's on sale at bbts but I think I'm just going to end up returning it unfortunately

Ebay it and buy the blue one. The red version is worth a lot more than the blue.

The quick answer is yes but the complicated answer is no. Fansproject and Maketoys are the same company. We're all hoping they come back someday but I'm not holding my breath.

I've had these for years, and just finally got around to messing with them. There's a VERY particular feel to Fansproject figures that I had forgotten. If this were to come out today with a newer advertising push at it's current clearance price, I think people would go nuts over it.

    1) their plastic quality is usually pretty good

    2) they have a signature glossy matte finish that unifies their stuff to me

    3) CHUG is “back” after a few years of every 3P and the market switching to “mp”

    4) Siege stuff fits the aeathetic imo, although toon inspired earthrise stuff less so (just look at something like the Datsund)

You'll be better off than me. While I got the figures on clearance, I paid full price for the shells just months before they all went on clearance, too. I think they average $45 each now.

I've been toying (heh) with picking up another FP bot on clearance at BBTS. Just so I'm keeping things straight: X6 knight has the ratchet problem where the main body ratchet is way too tight and it warps the plastic, Trianix Alpha has the extremely flimsy waist that breaks during transformation, but Dai-Z fixes that by having it be one solid piece? I had a line on a cheap-ish Assaulter a little while ago too, but that guy seems to have disappeared.

I should get Dai-Z then, right? I can put Star Saber in a big chair and have Dai-Z getting lectured.

I have never had an issue with my Six Knight. Trianix Alpha does have a weak waist joint. I've only taken mine apart once as I'm scared to break it. Dai-Z was corrected with stronger materials. I had to pull harder than I was comfortable with to get him apart.
