I thought about that. If I do I will have to find a way to make a "top" that just sits on what is there now. The biggest reason why I can't make it permanently any taller is it won't fit thru the door!
My eyes have beheld the beauty of this bad boy in real life. Went over for a visit to pick up the SS Scourge ol' Maximal Prime here snagged me. While I was there I was awarded the pleasure of a personal viewing of the "Ark-in-progress". (First of any, outside of his family in- house. Yes, I am proudly bragging ) This thing is absolutely huge. I know he's shown it with figures for a scale comparison..... But until you are in front of this thing, you really don't realize how huge this thing is! On the table that it sits, the top of the mountain is at my eye level and I'm 6ft+. It is a real thing of beauty. ( I'm still buzzing from checking it out). I am just taken back by how sweet this thing is and I'm really eager to see this project completed. Awesome job, bro! Thanks, so much, for sharing!!
Must have accidentally unfollowed. Great work on the cave and interested to see how the painting turns out as well.
Thank you for the high praise old friend. It was fun to show it to you in person and get your perspective on it. Just keep Trypticon on a leash if you bring him over. Thank you!
Since I haven't gotten a chance to paint this week, I added a little greenery to the outside last night. I found these 5" trees on clearance at the hobby store and picked a few up. I drilled a few holes in the base, added some spray glue and sprinkled some diorama grass from the hobby store. Dipped the tree in some Loc-Tite glue and planted a few trees. I played around with a few camera angles as well.
This js probably the best diorama to ever exist and it is even fully finished yet. Now to figure out how to shrink myself down to chug scale and read the rules on squatters rights
I was wondering if you were going to add trees. Nice choice, it really sets it off. I know that you’ve made a couple slight mistakes along the way but they definitely don’t show up in the final outcome. You still have it looking pretty much perfect. Have you done many of the dioramas in the past? I’d say you completely nailed the scale as well.
Thank you, this is the first diorama I've ever made. I did a lot of research, wrote down a list before I started of what I wanted to build and how I wanted it to look and watched a ton of YouTube videos of diorama builders and techniques. It was a video I watched of a guy who used Great Stuff spray foam for a smaller diorama that really lit the spark though. Once I saw how that was used I started thinking on a way bigger scale and the idea took off. Thank you!
In that case I might have to try making something like this next winter, if it comes out looking half as good as yours I’d be satisfied. I showed my son this and he was all about it. He instantly asked if I could make him one.
Might be worth cross-posting this here old chap: Transformers Diorama Appreciation Thread I have no doubt it will get much appreciation (and put my own offering to shame)!
I hadn't posted in that thread up until now because I didn't want to hijack it on an almost daily basis since a lot of my posts are fairly picture heavy. I'll throw a picture up with a link to this thread though. Thank you for the recommendation!
No problem at all old bean, this is bloody glorious work and the more people that get to enjoy it the better!
This is absolutely incredible, I really appreciate seeing the step by step process of it! Thank you for sharing!
It might not seem like much, but I did manage to spray glue the entire Ark floor to the MDF base and spray paint the whole floor using Rustoleum Metallic Rust today. Saturday I have to draw the grid and panel lines in the floor and give it a protective clear coat. Prime: "Grapple look, there's so much room for activites!"
