Dang! That's a real shame. Nevertheless, your file has been shown to be excellent looking and possibly the only decent option for us blue maw haters. Giving it out for free is/was an amazing thing. Thanks for that!
I have a suggestion. Put three of these around every tab: https://www.amazon.com/Orthodontic-...ocphy=9011135&hvtargid=pla-343125702194&psc=1 it should make up the difference. That or clear tape.
Well that's a bummer. I just threw the stl in the resin printer about an hour ago. I wonder if ABS-like resin will hold up a little better. It has a little more flex.
Thanks @Trunkkey for sharing the files with us all. I ended up printing it with gold filament and the colour turned out pretty well. Even with my crappy print, it looks great even from just a foot away.
Hi all, got permission and will be offering the MAW printed on my site in the next few days. I will be doing a bunch of test prints and color matching first to be sure then offering clean print or color matched options in production. www.cybertronsurgery.com All prints are FDM with solid infill to avoid shrinking or breaks. I will test the best angle of print for strength and get producing very soon. Any tips to get these top notch and keep the production cost down are appreciated. We are also offering Stand alone Planet mode and Wing upgrades so you can have your Unicron in both modes. Although they are a bit more time consuming and big a print. These files are also available if your keen to make them yourself. bynt-matrix - HASLABS UNICRON Planet mode Filler, Replacement Wings
Hoping to see gap fillers for the pincers along the maw. Its probably the most visually distracting thing for me. I'd love to see if someone is crazy enough to do gap fillers for the rings.
Don't be daft! The fact is there's a print ready to go because of you. The fact that the materials available meant you couldn't supply it, is a secondary thing. Anyone with a printer, or who knows someone, capable of using whichever materials will work (is it obvious I don't have one? ) can get this made. That's epic, and kudos to you for that
Aw thanks. I have a box of printed maws on my office floor. I'm hoping that though some miracle of over-curing in ambient Seattle sunlight, the resin has become stiffer and less likely to warp. Will know in a few. (i dont think that's how this works but worth a shot. It's a hell of a lot of wasted resin otherwise.)
I went the opposite route. I printed in ABS like resin which has a little more flex to it, hoping it will spring to its original shape under the light pressure. Just haven't gotten around to getting my Unicron down from the shelf to fit it
