Yeah being brought up online in niche forums and dedicated fan sites is impressive. Which is why idw keeps making crossovers and using plot lines that isn’t their sad attempt at original transformers stories to get anything resembling an audience. And even those overstay their welcome.

I dunno, haven't read any of the crossovers

IDW sure tried to be, lol.

I have not read any of them either. Was not impressed with ideas like my little pony or ghostbusters.

They need more 50 years of retcons, writers in-fighting and jumping on trends before they can compare themselves to DC and Marvel:lol :banghead: :cry
Ghostbusters seemed a little interesting, ya know, Ghost Starscream and Ectotron

The crossovers are consistently the best Transformers material IDW has ever produced.

Given sales #s, I’d imagine people will still be debating TFTM86 long after people have forgotten the IDW runs were ever even a thing.

I'll never forget Furman and Mccarthy's runs, specially the latter
Hot Rod causing Optimus death ? What about when Sideswipe euthanized Hunter ?

My problems with what I've read so far:
    • Most of Windblade's characterization
    • Most of the Lost Light went off the rails, I'd say after issue #2 or #3 I think it went to Robert's head, and the book just went off the walls. I'm just thankful that is mostly stuck the landing.
    • The famous Robert's "Hi and die"
    • Combiner Wars

The Terminator one was mildly entertaining, but haven't most of them just been bloody terrible? (I haven't read them all, but will peruse the previews.)
I feel like most of them have had seriously scraping the bottom of the barrel artwork...

Kinda surprised they haven't done a full TMNT crossover, that seems right in their wheelhouse.

I stand by exactly what I said. The one-off crossovers (not the Hasbroverse crap) are the best Transformers material IDW has produced.

which ones and why? Genuinely curious.

of the ones I've taken note of.
Avengers V Transformers was pretty terrible (but I recall having good art)
The "ongoing" Joe/TF book was an absolute abomination to look at.
Star Trek Transformers I can't comment on, I really couldn't get past the un-detailed art.

and the Terminator one had a good core to it's story and good-but-inconsistant art, but I didn't feel like went anywhere interesting with the interesting premise.

The Hasbroverse could have worked, but they didn't invest the time and effort to build it organically (and really, THAT should have been a full reboot, not trying to bolt it on to the ongoing TF book and jumpstarting a bunch of stagnant franchises) just like DC tried to do with their movies, they wanted to jump straight to the Avengers without spending the time to do the proper world building.

I still hold the Furman run as the high water mark for the overall IDW run, but the inconsistent artwork and weird pacing of jumping from miniseries to miniseries and filling it in with the Spotlights (and some of those Spotlights being by other writers and ending up being contradictory) made that a bit of a mess. Stormbringer and Spotlight Optimus Prime probably remain my favorite individual things they did (Furman+Don = yes please)

Mostly Terminator and Back to the Future because stuff actually fucking happens and the Transformers characters are actually recognizable. I don't have a high opinion of IDW's main Transformers runs, in case you haven't noticed.

the BTTF one kinda flew under my radar, decent story?

generally agree about everything post-AHM. (I like AHM in a "big summer blockbuster" movie sort of way) and shockingly, it just seems to keep getting worse...

You mean like a disaster movie ?
Cuz we don't get much robot vs robot action until the very end of the story
IDW 1.0 as whole or AHM ?

like Independence Day. Big cheese blockbuster, but I still thought it was fun. and the Guido art rocks.

each phase of IDW 1.0 (I break it out as: Phase one: Furman –ations era, Phase two: AHM, Phase three- Costa-era, Phase four: MTMTE/RID Phase 5: Hasbroverse-Unicron) and then IDW 2.0 has somehow, apparently managed to be even worse.

not much I think is worth the paper it was originally printed on post-AHM besides Last Stand of the Wreckers.

I've read a LOT of comics going back to probably like 81, and I think Dark Cybertron might have been the worst freaking story I've ever read.... although I did buy a lot of Image in the early days :lolol

at least Independence Day didn't crash an existing continuity
    Oh definetely:rock
Huh, AHM's run seems too small to consider it's own phase
Also, why do you believe each Phase only got worse and worse ?
    Why ?
It's not very good but it hasn't been awful either, though i do think it reached a pretty low point during Gauge's Galaxies story
I know very little about LSOTW, things like robot gore, Verity being in it, one shot characters dying, last one in particular is not exciting to hear
    is it really good ?
Wow, i can be very spiteful towards IDW, but i refuse to believe they managed to write garbage worse than Marvel and DC's decades of retcons, jumping the shark, creators fighting and marketing ploys

It is so far, now we wait for IDW to actually finish the damn thing. It should not take over three quarters of a year to crank out a four-issue miniseries.
