From what I recall, there are two new animated series in the works. One is Nick and one is Netflix. One of them is definitely BotBots and one of them is not, but I think what news we have is hazy as to which is which and where it's airing.

Based on the recently discovered "Ruckus Rally" pics, my guess would be Netflix is the BotBots show. They may be aiming for something more like "Oddballs" where the focus is on the BotBot characters and their antics from their perspective. Would be harder to do that if there's a human element.

This Nick show sounds like whatever the planned follow-up to Cyberverse will be. So a more story-driven show rather than episodic antics.

I also think people who are associating it with Minicons aren't too far off the mark. Micromasters apparently didn't sell well enough to continue past WfC2, but taking another shot at with a stronger media presence could be the missing touch.

I urge you to pay attention to the post you're replying to instead of letting the age show. Your nostalgia matters zero to me, I am bringing up the fact that "wtf those guys worked on the Loud House?!!? this is gonna be teen titans go transformers" is a hasty assumption to make. The industry is absolutely full of people that have worked in various different genres.

And frankly, we are beyond the grasp of what a cartoon of this sort is trying to do anyway, which is appeal to a new generation fans so that Transformers can still exist 40 years from now long after some of us have croaked.

The bad taste of your "everyone" that you use as sample is irrelevant to my point, which is the fact that "this person that is working on this upcoming show worked in the Loud House so I'll assume that it's a comedy show" is silly because our very franchise has a load of action storyboarders, artists and directors that worked in cartoony stuff before handling action shows.

True but i don't think the Sunbow cartoon in specific held it's audience in much high regard, the deaths in the 86 movie happened for a reason after all

They described it as an action-comedy series. Action-comedy objetively describes every single major TF cartoon other than Transformers Prime and Beast Machines, and even those two still had their fair share of comedy. Well, attempted comedy atleast.

Scratch that, Action Comedy describes most action cartoon for kids period.

Yes, there are many fans that have those opinions. They aren't wrong. But I think each can be judged case by case rather than with broad strokes. I loved the 2012 TMNT but hated Rise. There was plenty of nostalgia in the 2012 series but it was hardly a rehash of the Fred Wolf show. It was a different take that I fell I love with. Bringing it back to TF I disliked RiD2015, I felt like it should have been a Blue's Clues type show where Bumblebee talked to the audience..that show treated it's audience like there were idiots. On the flipside I totally fell in love with Cyberverse. It takes from all facets of TF lore yet it is totally it's own thing & it has a decent sense of humor. Children & adults can both enjoy it & I think that's the balance that should be struck with children's entertainment. Not just with long running franchises that have fans in different age groups but all of it. Anybody with kids know you spend more time watching those dumdass shows then the children do so it might as well be enjoyed by people of any age, right? Most of the classics are classics because they transcended their intended audience. It might be too much to ask that of every single children's show that comes along but the ones that last seem to have it common...

Cyberverse was a million times closer to Blues Clues than RID2015.

    YouTube (Legacy):
They've actually confirmed that the BotBots show is indeed going on the Netflix and that show is aimed at younger children while the one going on Nick is different and aimed at a slightly older (still kids) demographic.

We also have a synopsis of the BotBots show: "BotBots are Transformers robots that disguise themselves as everyday mall objects. By day, these BotBots hide quietly on store shelves but at night, they jump into adventure until a group of BotBots called ‘The Lost Bots’ run into the mall security guard and put all the bots in danger. Will these misfits be able to overcome their differences, defeat the security guard and gain acceptance in the eyes of the other bots?"

I never made it past season 1, maybe it got better? I couldn't put up with the Decepticon of the Week format & Bumblebee's gollygee, I can't be in charge attitude. I remember thinking at the time "my friend's 5 year old is too old to watch this show". On the flip side I found myself laughing at Cyberverse more & would play the just one more episode game for an entire season (not very long, but still).

To each their own though, my dislike doesn't affect your enjoyment & vice versa.

...or maybe it means I'm getting more infantile the older I get :lol

Well... Judging by the premise, it seems like a mostly original thing, but with some trademarked Transformers characters (possibly, in name only) playing second fiddle to whatever else is happening. Which is just what kids, long time fans and everyone else expects from this franchise by now.

I kinda wish it is. At least that wouldn't feel as irrelevant to any established idea of Transformers as this premise makes this cartoon seem. But I think Hasbro has been trying to stay somewhat consistent to the way some characters look and act, in the last few years, so, probably not an Armada remake or anything of that sort?

But then again, it's a "comedic" show, about "new" "transformers" who are "adopted" by people, so, what consistency? :p

I just hope it's good and that the animation and character designs aren't as off-putting as TFA and RiD15.

At first I thought "you know, that would be fun to see, once".

But on second thought, I've been getting the feeling that a lot of what Hasbro has been passing as Transformers cartoons in the last decade is much closer to Car & Cable than Transformers.

I'll have to check it out

Personally TMNT 2k3 was better than 2012, Mikey was at least a competent goofball in that one :p
