I'm very new to Mego; only started buying some recently to supplement my NECA retro collection. But it feels like I missed my chance to get into the Star Trek TOS stuff quickly and cheaply.

I kept a bunch of the recent releases saved in an Amazon wishlist in case I decided to take the plunge, and several of those pages are just gone now. And the prices for them on eBay seem to have crept up too; not exorbitantly, but higher than my interest in Mego allows. Same for the Diamond/Emce stuff.

And frankly, seeing that picture of Ghost McCoy, I wonder if I'm just better off out of the whole thing.

That pale McCoy could be a good borg custom base.

they are doing reissues of figures from time to time so all hope is not lost!

there are Kirk, Spock, Gorn and Klingon figures coming up...not sure if they are slightly tweaked from previous releases or all new versions...

Looks like Emgo is doing a build series on the big 1701-D subscription kit from Eaglemoss - playlist up with the first part.

I'll enjoy this one vicariously - just don't have the space for the thing!

I’ve picked up a few of these figures over the past few years and just found a few more at a local flea market today. For their time, the sculpts are impressively accurate and the articulation is decent. And the price can’t be beat...I got all three for about $20 all-in... I want to end up with the main bridge crew at some point...still need a regular Riker, regular Picard and a Worf.

Nice! Riker from his "I've always wanted to make love with an alien." scene with Lilith Crane (Babe Neuwirth).

Eaglemoss blew it when they posted and removed their early build vids with Ben Robinson months ago, and folks saw the design forgot to add the saucer edge. It's like the cat ears on MPM-12. You can't unsee it when you notice it. :(

If not for that, I'd be all over this even if I had to hang it from the ceiling to have it fit in my place.

So I finally got a third one of these and finally got one without janky electronics! It was clear to me that whatever the actual cause for the weird behaviour was far more esoteric than I could even determine with my limited technical skills, simply repairing one wasn't an option, and somehow I struck a dud twice before getting one that worked properly.

Ironically, it was also the first one with a battery compartment that was actually corroded (the other two were as clean as can be so that was clearly not the cause), requiring clean-up, which I initially did by sanding the battery contacts until I got enough current going to determine that it was indeed functioning properly. However, that just wasn't enough to satisfy me, especially since my attempts at a proper clean-up to remove all the corrosion and leaked battery build-up were significantly less that satisfactory, so I decided to take upon myself what is probably my most ambitious toy repair attempt so far; a complete battery compartment transplant. I would take the entire bottom section of hull of one of the broken but clean samples and swap it with the new one. Which in addition to removing some screws and replacing the side decals also required re-soldering a couple of wires.

I am, however, pleased to say that the operation was successful. Unfortunately I didn't think to take any pictures mid-operation to show you guys.

I got a few more of these O.G. Playmates figures today. Worf’s headsculpt is surprisingly good, I think. I got Worf, Dr. Crusher and plain old Riker all MOC for less than $25 shipped. I think I need to bust them out. These will be the oldest sealed toys I have ever opened intentionally....feels kinda dirty to do so, lol...

    Creative use of Megabloks.

I bought my TNG cast in a lot of the entire wave 1, and bought alternate uniforms and supporting cast members separately. In fact, I think I had characters like O'Brien, Barclay and Wesley before I had any of the main bridge crew. Now that I think about it, I think I even got the TNG bridge playset before I had even one figure to put in it...and it still sits inside the top cupboard, unopened!

I would like to have a bridge playset, honestly...I think. My main goal with these figures was just to have the main TNG bridge crew...which I pretty much have now. My Geordi is the one in his dress uniform, and I’d like to track down his standard uniform, but other than that, I’m pretty much finished. I’m still surprised at how inexpensive these figures are. I know they aren’t fancy or complex, but I didn’t pay over $10 for any of them. Crazy!
