Just happened to me tonight. :(  Seeing how well model cement will work to fuse it back together. Widened the slot a bit, maybe it'll work...

You must be in Amish country or something, it's always Bumblebee and Cyberverse everywhere I've been that sticks around on the shelves. And I go to multiple states. WFC doesn't last very long.

For me this is a sign. I have been trying to leave the game for a few months. I'm very satisfied with my collection. If I choose to, I can pass on Rodimus Prime and Galvatron. Both were considered to be the last purchases I'd make for a couple years. Now, I can see that my terms for ending collecting can be justified. Eight years. Was a hell of a run though.

I have somewhat of extra disposable income but in the end it is up to you which to and not to buy. Hb ain't forcing us. Same with 3P, can't afford it don't buy it. Some of my TF stuff come pre owned, sometime cheaper, sometimes a bit expensive. Some POs are cheaper too (like the Amazon stuff)

I wasn't buying the BW component of Kingdom but I am rooting for it's success! Only getting parts that I dig, not necessarily all of them )recent releases I also skipped like the SG components and G2 and not losing sleep over them at all. If I have any complaints, its the availability of the products I dig! Thank Primus that there's Amazon ( love and hate for you Jeff:p ), all of my Kingdom and SS came from them except for SS Grimlock, the exclusives GS, amiami, hobbysearch, hlj, RK (for the stuff Amazon could not provide), Amazon JP for the Megatron water pistol, and my local plastic crack dealer.
The expensiveness I can live with but the going through the hoops is murder!:drunk

Correct! Some of our members forget that the focused demo are the noisy whiny kids not us "mature" collectors who make up the smallest demographic Hb is catering to. Hurts but that is the truth.

Yup. Some have the mentality of gonna get them when they drop on sale. Doing that kind of dooms the line that you are suppose to support. Yet when 3P is sold as is, I don't hear them complain ( that is the market for people with disposable income)

Mega burn! But really, kids love Bb I guess and they are the prime focus of Hb, not us.

    False generalization.

    Ex:

Official MP-43 Masterpiece Beast Wars Megs = $319.99 USD (big bad toy store)

Toysmage Masterpiece Beast Wars Megs = $119.99 USD (showzstore)

The difference in quality is negligible and certainly not worth a $200 difference.

Okay, there are tons of factors that makes the Takara MP-43 more expensive (designs, child safety tests, machinery, etc.)

    BUT

I contend that if Takara were to lower it's price by 25% their sales would increase by the same amount.

Sell it for $239.99 and you'll sell a lot more of them.

Their Beast Wars masterpieces are just WAY overpriced.

Worse, Hasbro usually doesn't make them available here other than stores like BBTS.

I used to feel guilty about buying 3P TFs. That guilt has loooooooooong disappeared along with Hasbro's care about the fans.

P.S. Remember the TRUE BotCon days with the Hartman brothers? That was the apogee of Hasbro caring about the fandom. Downhill ever since.

Hasbro doesn't make Takara figures available anywhere except Hasbro Pulse, sites like BBTS import them from Japan because Hasbro doesn't sell domestic versions of them. Also conflating 3p with a KO is a logical falsehood in the context of the conversation.

Why exactly are people upset that a for profit company is going to prioritize profits? It's not like they're a charity :lol  When a for profit company stops generating profit (or profit starts stagnating) then that is a sign that that company is beginning to die. Profits are a good thing, especially considering toys are a non essential product.

Only if it’s passed on to consumers, which isn’t always the case.

"Why don't those apples cost the same as these oranges?"

I don't think any toy company plans on customers buying every last thing they sell. That's why they diversify the offerings. Look at how Hasbro crosses continuities in *every* toyline they put on shelves.

Lightning Collection waves never focus entirely on one season, Marvel Legends rarely (if ever) contain figures solely from one version/continuity, Star Wars Black Series often mixes and matches between movies, TV, and other sources....

Yes, it'll hit collectors...but the only reason any of us collected anyway is because we had disposable income to throw at a hobby. A kid's toy line can't survive on hobbyists alone. So yeah, prices increasing suck. But if it doesn't hit the bottom line, which is parents buying toys for their kids, then Hasbro will be fine in the long run.

And who knows, maybe selling 5 figures at $20 is easier than selling 10 at $10 because it's easier to produce five figures at $20 that people will want than it is to produce 10 characters at $10 that people will want.

People are comparing what you can buy in stores to 3rd party (which is dumb to compare since it's just a $3 increase that already happened), not Masterpieces.

And did you seriously compare the Price of a KO to that of an official Masterpiece? Are you daft? Look I can do that too.

Official MP-43 Masterpiece BW Megatron = $367.99 CAD (showzstore)
Toysmage KO Masterpiece BW Megatron = $152.26 CAD (showzstore)

Oh jeez I just can't possibly imagine why the price is so much lower! It's just beyond me!
