The paint on this looks so bad. It looks like a hand-painted prototype. AND it\'s flaking off at the knees. I don\'t get it.

That's because it is. This comes out I'm November. They aren't going to fire up the moulds and stuff to make a figure for photography purposes.

Hand painted prototypes? What is this, the 80s?

I want to be mad, don't deny me that with your logical explanations!

I look forward to the HotRod variant.

But... but... that's the absolute definition of Masterpiece? That can't be right.

I think Skids looks fine personally. I'm just glad his transformation scheme isn't something overly complicated and looks less likely to have structure issues or fragility on parts that shouldn't be.

No rear windows, and the top of the car and windshield does not even collapse? SS86 Jazz has a better canopy than this...  Certainly not worth the 90$ they are asking for it. I\'ll wait until HLJ will have it on sale for 30-40$, like they did with Road Rage and Tracks.

    Masterpiece MP-53 Skids-21.jpg

Also, the screen sticking up behind his head like that is deliberate - toon and toy accurate. That being the case I don't see any major reason not to have the roof simply still attached to it on the figure's back. Gives some hollowness in the backpack area, but no more than the beloved Lambo and Datsun moulds.

Figure has flaws, those aren't among them, imho.

Skids was developed and designed as a relatively reasonable and cost-effective item with a more playable transformation.
In order for the Masterpiece brand to continue to grow in the future, we hope that you will pick up a Skids filled with new challenges.

So I guess the takeway is the success of Skids, determines if stuff that had a slim chance of getting made will have a much better chance as a more scaled down MP, versus the likes Starscream or someone like Jazz? I could live with that with a better job of restraint on the detailing, think he went overkill on Skids less MP more WFC, but if increases the chance of a Reflector or set of Dinobots I could take the loss on those type characters. The animator video made a good point of how the bot modes were designed to be more humanoid for the cartoon, think Skids is little too mechanical looking, hopefully they can remember that.

He was at #4 at the very least. Probably didn't help that on Amazon Japan Reboost was purchasable outside of Japan and Skids wasn't.

Probably in the minority but, sounds good to me. While I love Sunstreaker's and Hound's (My Hound has 0 problems. Thank the good Lord) transformation sequences I feel like I have to carve out time to take them on. I'm not like some of you guys that have an eidetic memory when it comes to complex transformations. I end up having to refer to the instructions or skim a vid because something,"just doesn't line up". I think Skids looks wonderful.

Yeah...He looks wonderful except for that. :(

Thinks that par for the course for the reduced prices, the earlier carbots had a lot more hollow than the new MPs. Chances are MPs filling this model are going to have their fair share of similar flaws.

I think he means these hollow bits on the inside of each thigh above the knee. Even if it's a minor thing, and this is much cheaper than normal MPs, it probably shouldn't be happening on an MP in 2021, it's very CHUG-ish.

But, I guess when they said they wanted this to blend with MP12 they also meant gappy plastic as well as the random greeblies, less articulation and derpy face sculpt. Yay for hybrid aesthetic o_O  (I jest I jest :D )

Still see myself going ahead with these two because I'm a clown, and the alt modes do look so nice.

I agree. I've wanted to get into collecting MP figures since I first discovered them when I was 12 years old. Not only are they so ridiculously complex that they make the ROTF Leader Prime look like a one step changer (I get that, at a higher price point, I should expect the MPs to have some form of complexity, but the leg transformation on MP-44 alone, for instance, is insane), they're just so expensive because they get loaded up with accessories. Skids might actually be my first foray into the G1 MP line and I hope they continue to develop figures like him alongside the more expensive and complex animation accurate MP figures.
