I always find it funny when people give me or others crap for collecting stuff I`m interested in, or the kind of television I watch. :lol

My question is: Does anyone here regardless of age, get made fun of, or just get sh!t from loved ones or friends about the things that make your lives a little more fun. Like collecting Transformers or watching the shows?

If so, what are some of the remarkes you get and what do you do about it? :lolol

Mostly I get semi-snide comments from my wife about money, space and time. Friends just laugh and shake their heads when they walk in the room. My second grade students think I am the coolest guy they know. Apparently my best friends are 8.

I usually don't get much crap from people. My girlfriend will make comments once in a while but as long as I still have money to take care of her it's cool.

I get snide comments from my one roommate, but the other's dig my Transformers. I told that jerk that if he as problem with my Transformers, i'll buy a whole bunch of tasteless PVC anime pron figures just to spite him despite that I don't like them; that and it would scare his friends away from ever visiting again =3

Yeah, I get sh!t for collecting Transformers - more Transformers!

All of my friends know how into TFs I am and they support it usually. It makes getting me birthday gifts easier since they can just go to a Toys'r'us to make me happy.

I get weird looks from my parent's and my sisters, but that's about it. It would be a lot worse if my sisters still lived here. Especially the oldest one, as she made snide comments as it was. I can't imagine what it would have been like if I was collecting at the time. I get the feel that my parent's are somewhat embarrassed by it, but then again, they collect stuff too, so they can't really complain about it, lol (my dad has his trains, and my mother has her Disney stuff).

I catch some heat from my friends ('40 Year Old Virgin' comparisons are usually brought up, even though I only have about 150 toys) but they are also the same guys who will come over and play with them. A little declination back to their childhood. So I take it all in stride.

Now, I did have a cable guy over last week to hook up my cable modem and he took a few startled glances. I couldn't tell if he was envious or scared.

I actually got shit from some woman who does resets for Hasbro when I asked her in a walmart about when the Masterpiece Starscream would be showing up. (this is about a week before it did, when we were getting sightings.)

She basically said, "Oh your one of them...." and walked off.

Been collecting actively for just over a year now, and seems like everybody is just blown away at how cool it all is, neighbor kids are jealous, siblings think its cool, and my mom says it takes her back to when she used to buy them for me as a kid, good memories.

The only people who have ever thought it was weird were the guys at work who are big-time hunters who spend all their spare time hanging out at Cabella's up the street. Until I won a skeet shoot contest...haha!

I have seriously yet to be made fun of. I get alot of complements like cool, and thats awesome and most of the time when I am talking to some about it, they are a fan as well. My girlfriend supports it and knows who I have and dont have, so if she is at a store and sees one I dont have, she will get it for me.

Yeah, I've gotten crap about my hobby from Wal-Martians as well...when I found the three second-wave sets of Classics Mini-Cons on clearance, I picked up all of 'em, and the girl at the register was real-condescending-like..."You sure must love Transformers", and "You don't think you're too old for these?"

See, I figure if I was working the late shift at Wal-Mart, I don't think I'd feel like I could look down on anyone, but that's just me, I guess.

Also, I wasn't quite sure how to take it when a friend told me over the summer "You sure are a lot cooler now that that movie's come out." Huh. Okay.

My late grandfather was always very tollerant and expressed a great deal of interest in them. The last one of mine he saw was Alt Grimlock.

My grandma says "Transformers" in such a way that it sounds more like "I'm a bit disgusted that my only grandson collects kid's toys"

My dad's side of the family pretty much doesn't know I exist, which is a plus (they're like that, though. I think it has to do with my dad being divorced, but that makes no sense because his dad is also divorced...)

Everyone else on my mom's side doesn't really care (my aunt and uncle that work at an elementary school are most tollerant)

My dad insists I spend too much money on these and every time I mail a package he says "How much did that sell for? What did you pay for it?"
My response: "What it's worth" and "Retail price"

My mom is pretty supportive (she saw some Legends while she was grocery shopping and bought one for me, then drove back so I could get more)

My sisters don't seem to care either way.

EDIT: My friends seem to ignore it...
My girlfriend can post what she thinks later...

My ex at first thought it was a cool that I collected TFs, but then she made remarks about my collection and how childish it was. My mom asks why I have it and my dad thinks it's all right. My roomie thinks why I keep buying more but respects my collection and others think it's straight out cool. It all depends from person to person.

Haha, my parents bug me to sell mine too.

Also, Walmart associates need to stfu. I never harassed anyone, in fact I was pretty amused when the same people would show up every night to check for new stuff (scalpers or collectors, I have no idea). That's pretty dedicated.

Only associate who ever mentioned it to me was when I was at the register. The lady looked at it and said, "You're a collector, huh?" and I was a little confused by it, and then she said she saw my shirt. I was wearing my Starscream shirt, so she put two and two together. I told her I was a dork, and she was being really sweet saying that it's neat that I collect them. Made me feel special.

The worst I usually get is my dad and my sister saying I spend too much on them when a good portion of my money came from student loans, and I still have to buy essentials (textbooks, food, etc). I know my family isn't against me collecting them because it would be very hypocritical of them. My dad collects 12 inch GI Joes, my mom buys collector's Barbies (mostly dolls of the world), and my sister casually collects My Little Pony and Robot Heroes.

Most people I know have no problem with my hobby (at least they don't say it to my face). One guy I knew in High School loved to make a show of it, like say something to me loud enough for everyone on the bus to hear, but he was a bit of a dick anyway.

And I'm probably jinxing myself, but I've never gotten the "aren't you too old for this?" remark from a store associate.
