The metallic and the original are basically the same base color... It's just matching in the yellows

 

If the original were more readily available I'd get that one. The metallic version wouldn't look terribly out of place with the rest of the collection, I gather?

 

It looks better... In comparison videos it's hard to tell.

 

I think the metallic one seems more evocative of the G1 toy than the original Klaatu, actually.

I might be in the minority here, but I wish XTB also did a clear version at this scale aside from the Blue one. Even die-cast-free, I'd like one in my collection. The clear NA Max is cute, but tiny, and overpriced compared to what Klaatu goes for.

 

Metallic Klaatu looks fantastic and fits just fine with a toon style collection.

 

Metallic is still a good choice.

 

No! Metallic superior! Klatu metallic was one of my favorite figures i bought in 2020! I can’t imagine if it wasn’t metallic.

 

When it comes to the Metallic and blue versions
-does the tractor beam still have issues pegging into the underside of the alt mode?
-does the tractor beam still develop stress cracks on it's own over time?

I know these were problems with the standard version.

 

Mine didn't, I have the metallic version. But I can see it happening over time as its a pretty tight fit. If you're thinking about buying klatu then I would advise you do while you can. He's a lovely little guy.

 

I still like this little guy a lot and would buy whatever version of him again over the other 3P Cosmos figures. (Actually I really can't spot the difference between metallic and non metallic deco on him.)

 

I'm not the biggest MP collector, but I'm hard pressed to think how TT could top this guy if they tried.

 

I have the original standard green version. The tractor beam pegging problem a major annoyance. Other than that the figure is great. I haven't checked the tractor beam in over a year so who knows if it started developing cracks on its own like so many others have.
I'll eventually get the blue version and possibly the metallic.

 

I also have the metallic version and he looks really great on the shelf. I'll snap some pics and post soon. I'm currently reorganizing my shelves and displays

 

Thank you, gents. Considering how many third-party figures feature metallic paint, it shouldn't be that big of an issue, just wanted to get some feedback.
