I got this set as a matter of principle, since I double dipped on Computron and also have the POTP Abominus. Even then, I'm not entirely sure it was worth it. Still, I'm happy to have it in a sense.

So, it seems the Hasbro version actually has more paint apps? Have to admit, I'm feeling really underwhelmed by the ''improvements'' in this new Abominus. To be sure, the new parts actually are an improvement, but the figures themselves mainly seem like KO's of the first release, almost. It's disappointing to lose the spikes on the hands too.

Depends on the figure as to who has more paint apps. TakaraTomy's are more subtle in some cases. I detailed the number of each (based on initial photos) earlier in the thread. They're pretty evenly split.

Anyways... I ****ing love this character, but I have major quality complaints. I know that statement is contradictive and so I will explain. Every complaint that primevsprime's review is completely accurate.

However, even as weak as Abominus' legs are... I have had a lot of success balancing the weight. The ratchets are weak as hell... his legs want to give out. It sucks. That being said, I have a lot of great luck with balancing it all.

It's really finicky. I feel like a newcomer to posing would be angry fast. I was able to find the weaknesses and pose him in a reliable manner. If Takara just made the ratchets stronger like most of their current molds, this figure would be a must own.

Other issues are with Cutthroat. His head literally just falls apart. Where are the pins? This figure is expensive! The indiviual robot modes look awesome and feel pretty good on their own. The terrorcon modes are also toon accurate.

Here are my personal feelings. I don't regret the purchase at all. I love Abominus and this is the character from the show. That being said... why does eveyrthing look so great and feel so ****ing cheap?

Here are pics. If you have any questions, I will try to answer. Some people might be on the fence, so I would like to answer specific questions if they help that person decide.

My two cents: any toy close to $200 as a mass release truly must take your breath away. "Good but" is a very strong help in making a purchase decision.

Takara did improve the joints for GS Volcanicus but sadly not for any other GS combiner.

    Indeed.

Right. But they could've improved also other things. My GS God Neptune feels every day more cheaper. When i first got him off of his box he felt fine, not worthed €250 or so but still pretty good.
Now that i handled it for a while, three of his limbs feel like cheap kos.

I really hope i'll not be SO much disappointed by the remaining two, or at least by Volcanicus. I basically bought God Neptune and preordered Abominus to give Volcanicus proper enemies and also to have more beast combiners to display with my tfc Ares/POTP Predaking. I don't want them to feel cheap for that price.

Well I let my love for a toon accurate Abominus tilt the way I think about it a bit. He looks freaking awesome (to me).

Even if the Abominus combiner fails, the Terrorcons look really good together.

Did they actually ship it? As I got a tracking number from them Friday but the listing doesn't show any updates.

Head falling Cutthroat, friction right? No pins. Major bummer!:(

The mold is sure showing it's age!:(  Same issues with King Poseidon.

As we all, they an't cheap. Just picked up Volcanicus(already have the PotP version but at a much bigger discount. Will be following up with the same strategy, not getting him for a full SRP range.

Again, the base mold is indeed showing it's age. I doubt it TT would reinvest to add extra teeth to the arm and leg ratchets for Hungurr ( the most important part) but yet Rippersnapper gets a better peg holder?o_O

The apparent improvement to Rippersnapper may have been a running change already implemented to the mold previously that went unnoticed or even just a happy accident. Which I'm inclined to believe since Takara improved exactly zero else on the stability of these figures.

    That's in Singaporean dollars....
And it ships from ASIA. Not America.
Shipping will be expensive. So you're looking at another 80 bucks for shipping. Read the fine print.. lmao
