For some reason I think of the Space Winnebago from Spaceballs, which seems strangely fitting for a good Megatron

Just the crazy anti-aerodynamic style somehow feels right for him.

 

Was always a fan of the hand gun alt mode. Still hope someone does it. Maybe magic square can do a repaint of theirs? Bot mode on this guy is pretty amazing and the transformation is fun.

 

Makes me think of the Gunstar from The Last Starfighter... now I kinda want to buy him for that reason.

 

I would call that a Shattered Glass Galvatron, not Megatron.

 

SG Galvatron would be a helicopter, no idea what they would use for that unless they plan on making Headmasters and use Highbrow (adds a bit of TFA influence).

Yeah, its amusing that his change to Galvatron was such a downgrade- he goes from a heavily armed spaceship with a tank mounted on the top of the fuselage to a rescue helicopter. But its SG, so maybe that was the joke, instead of being upgraded into a more powerful form, he was downgraded.

But as others have said, this is definitely SG Megs. The Energon figure had the head swapped from the Galvatron-shaped head of the original to the black Megatron head from the Marvel comics for the Botcon 2008 figure.

 

Heh, say what you will about Macchio's alt mode, but I think its better than the new Generations Select official one:

I mean, I will give credit where credits due for managing to turn that mold into a starship with some extra pieces and a different transformation. But its just a little flat to me. I'm a fan of the TF Energon Megatron mold, and honestly, the "roundiness" of Macchio is at least a little closer than the Generations version. (But also, as someone else said, it does also remind me of a Gunstar). Like had there not been a pre-existing SG Megs, I prolly woulda though the official effort was fine.

 

As many an early 2010's combiner showed us, just no way to make an obvious crotch 'n thigh gap not an obvious crotch 'n thigh gap (or really, make it look good)

Hi there! For anyone who owns a new age SG Megatron could you post a close up pic of the front, side, and back of his head.

You don’t need to pop off the head but if you could put a white sheet of paper behind it and with out shoulder stacks that would be amazing.

my reason is that I am making a new head for my Sg Megatron and want to base it off of the New Age head sculpt!

So there's an extra starting point for how they decided on the head.

 

Man, I want an OS version of this guy so bad. Love the face and the color scheme and the way they turned his cannon mount into a fuselage. I think his alt mode looks like a Halo-esque hovercraft or something.

 

So I scrapped my own idea of doing a Sg head and I commission a 3D printer to make one for me! If you guys want one of your own here is his link:
