Discovered today that my nephew/son(had custody for the past 5-6 years) decided a little bit back to steal my ER Thundercracker and Skywarp. I discovered TC in his toybox, missing a wing and with something broken in the port on his back. Skywarp he kept lying to me about until finally he divulged that he took it to school and it ended up lost. Him sneaking other things is one thing but he knows how much I save for my figures and how much I value them. I am already working on replacing but, argh!!!!
Not necessarily, a rant, but looking at my Earthrise map, I wish Kingdom had done a jungle style map with its figures. I'd certainly enjoy that more than the collectible cards they've included. I think the Beast Wars figures would've looked better with it, too.
I appreciate your leaping barbarian pose for Optimus Primal - I had the same thing for a while until I could no longer resist the urge to re-pose the entire shelf.
I remember when Titan Returns was in full swing and people would swap heads and that would look cool and nice but the people would always say it was still bad because the colors didn’t match. However when has that ever been a rule? Heck just look at Skullcruncher who is in the very line these heads came from and his head is black and there’s no other black on the figure. So according to this rule that the heads need to match Sckullcruncher official is incorrect... Saying the heads didn’t match drove me insane back then and still does.
I was more bothered by the Titan Masters not having heads scaled for Leaders. You can only exchange heads with other Leaders or they’ll look like G1 Scorponok.
I bought the Retros and swapped parts and HMs to get the figures *I* wanted out of the deal. You should always do you, don't let others sway you.
Honestly, as a kid who was introduced to Transformers via Armada, and because of it became a life long fan... Every time I see somebody on here talking about how it was the worst thing in the world, despite how popular it was for kids at the time, just makes me want to say that if you grew up with Beast Wars or G1 and you honestly think those were the best toylines of all time, go shove them up your ass. They sucked. G1 toys were fucking awful. Beast Wars toys, while better, weren’t as fun nor did the have the playability factor that Armada possessed. And guess what? It was the playable factor that made Armada so successful, proving that to children, articulation is not as important as is the ability to have fun. So there. Beast Wars had an amazing show and some well articulated figures, G1 was ass around around. Armada had some compromised but fun toys, and a show that got really good in it’s later half. You people need to stop treating Armada as if it was the worst thing to ever happen despite it being a resounding success at the time.
Everyone focuses on the Hot Shot and the Side Swipe but conveniently ignore the absolute bangers that are Unicron and Sideways and the sheer presence that the fully combined Prime has
Funny. I thought that was part of the fun of swapping heads. All the crazy mix-matching that results from it.
Exactly! That was the point but people created rules for it that didn’t even hold water on an official stand point. I loved mixing and matching! I feel like there wasn’t enough of that when Apeface and Snapdragon came out.
Supposedly grown adults yelling at each other over official terms is both hilarious and sad. Most of us that were around in the 80s made up things as we went along since we didn't have the online guard to tell us we were wrong. Now we all sit around pounding on our keyboards in anger that "YOU AREN'T PLAYING WITH YOUR TOYS RIGHT! OMG!!!!!111!!11!" Heaven forbid we allow some folks a little freedom during their playtime. Rigid structure is the right of all sentient beings. I think that's how that goes.
It was actually the Titans Return line that brought me back to collecting mainly because I really loved the headmaster gimmick. FOC and Thrilling 30 had pushed me away but damn that Triggerhappy mold looked awesome. The head swap made it even better.
I don't want to call anyone out specifically, but there was a thread yesterday that started out innocently enough and then an official term was being debated. Somebody else suggested a fan-friendly remedy to it and the next thing you know it's thirty posts of people bickering over using too much imagination and not just accepting the "real truth" about the plot and characters. Since that was twenty-four hours ago and my brain is fundamentally incapable of remembering more than about four hours at a time right now. If I remember right it was something to do with the Ark. Vector Sigma was mentioned and . . . somebody didn't care for it 'cause it wasn't "official," or something.
"Flex the plastic just a bit to get it into place" is not a design trend I support. And what spawned this opinion was fiddling with that buzzworthy bee with spike. What are we calling that, core class Bumblebee? Imma call it core class Bumblebee. Also, core class bee is functionally the universe legends Bumblebee mold you might see at dollar generals. The feet, waist, the rear arm/wheel/doors, even the backpack flip around that reveals the head, all those elements are shared between the two. More parts, more posability, different shell, same idea. This isn't a rant, just an observation. What is a rant is the following edit I'm adding in: I should not be able to fix a figure and or its transformation by removing tabs and or pegs entirely. The figure should be fine by the time it's out of the design phase. All I should ever need to do to fix anything is add some floor polish to the occasional loose joint.
I am honestly, incredibly disappointed that the Titan Ark will not have an official base mode, or a third mode at all for that matter. Every Titan to date has had multiple modes, one of those being a city mode (I know Devastator and Predaking aren't citybots, but they still have multiple modes if you count the individual limb bots). It would've been nice to have an official floorspace to put Teletraan-1 in his alt mode. As it is, the bot and ship modes look great for the Ark, but I kinda feel like we're being cheated on this one.
Same story for me, got back in thanks to Titans Return, especially the Retro releases. For my rant, I think these days there are far too many uses of any given mold. Normally I wouldn't mind, the more the merrier, but I get the feeling that new characters are chosen based on whether or not the mold can be reused for other characters. While I understand this from a business perspective, it's still annoying considering the BW era had many unique and fantastic designs where some molds got at most one repaint or retool.
2022 Studio Series wave 1 listing leaked, precisely zero Bayformers. It's all Beeverse and SS86. How exciting. I thought people said SS86 would be a one-off one wave thing, it seems like they're here to stay. They're great toys but shouldn't be made at the expense of live-action film figures. You G1 bots have your own line in WFC. Stay in it.
