Ah ok then you had received a faulty set because i didn't have that issue and had assumed the different sized port ends was the issue. My bad.

 

Well, I bought 3 sets for 18 total. ALL 18 needed material taken off the middle due to offset molding. Fortunately, with a 5mm drill bit, took about a minute to drill out the centers of all 18 by hand.

Even Hastak stuff is not immune to this. One recent example is Core OP's hands. 3mm pegs / rods can't plug in all the way due to offset molding. In this case, one would use a 3mm drill bit to fix.

Various 30 minute missions Gundam accessories have 3mm rods and pegs, which now work properly in Core OP's hands after the fix.


Since I've done a lot of modding, having a metric drill bit set has been invaluable. They don't have to be the super expensive ones either. $20 sets work just fine, like this one: https://www.grainger.com/product/CLE-LINE-Jobber-Length-Drill-Bit-Set-50AZ81

 

I need at least the 5mm drill bit. I did run into that issue with a different toy, one of my son’s cyberverse toys, which was slightly infuriating.

 

Yes, but the 'tail' can be folded in, revealing a hollow cavity that either an adapter part could be put into,

A large blast effect could be designed to fit into that hollow area, turning the hollowness into the cannon barrel* itself.

Received my last Unclebilly package today, which was delayed thanks to ongoing HK Post issues (not enough planes leaving HK for airmail). More ZX Coneheads sets. Picked up 2 more Ramjet sets (Ramjet and Sandstorm don't need to share, and one for upcoming G2 Ramjet, which I'll repaint) and picked up the newer ZX Thrust set. All the conehead sets also come with gap fillers for the stock null rays (not shown).

The back end resembles null rays while the front end has a missile shape. The paint match is pretty good (looks better than what the camera shows in real life next to bare maroon plastic, spot on match with the painted maroon). Overall print quality is good. No fitting issues either.


As with the other ZX Conehead sets, the pegs have an interesting design in which half of it is a rectangular shape. This allows for storage on the back of the Coneheads.

Overall, all the sets look and work great. Not necessarily the biggest fan of the color choices on the other coneheads, though. Dirge's gray is based off the MP figure, but that figure replaced all the black with gray. May still end up repainting to a matte black. The Ramjet one has gold highlights on the back, which does match the highlights on the figure. The gunmetal, though, doesn't exactly match. However, the Ramjet set perfectly complements Sandstorm's deco.


Overall: 9/10. They just, um, work. No fitting issues. Can still use stock Null Rays in conjunction with these.

That's actually how DNA Design's Scorponok Rifle plugs in for Scorpion mode. Sadly, the rifle is not blast effects compatible...granted the barrel would be too big anyways.

Then I can see DNA coming out with DK-??, and it being a huge blast effect just for their own Scorponok gun.

Now that I think about it, the tail might collapse under its own weight.

But I can see them doing it anyway...to sell more stuff.

1) Anyone try these arm missiles for ER Sunstreaker (and friends)? The Nonnef kit is ok, but I'd rather something that comes out of the wrist like the original toy.

2) This is kind of frustrating. They've recreated G1 Chromedome and Hardhead's weapons, but for some reason have switched the colors. The red weapon is Hardhead's and should be green, and the green should be red for Chromedome.  

 

I want interested in this figure before... but these claws kind of make me want to get one.

 

Received this Dr. Wu Brawn weapon set recently from Uncle Billy. 3 different colors. Don't even have Brawn. Just liked the design.


On eBay, wonderfullys sells a black version which is just the gray version painted over.

DNA is not going to do something like that. That would not fit with their 'style'. As a gap filler, I could see someone else try that with a 5mm port in the middle. However, it would take away a tail segment.

 

I've been wondering about that, there's been a seeming recent propagation of restocking Titans Return-era Dr. Wu weapon sets across a variety of China-based sellers but they all seem to be the alternate colour versions he offered rather than the "correct" figure/G1 colours, could they just be backstock, or actual KOs of the Good Doctor's handiwork? And if KOs why haven't they re-done the "proper" colours?

 

Just got a couple Arcee swords from Uncle Billy. My first BDT set, and dang these are nice. The colors are well done and feel solid. I thought Arcee's grip waa too loose on one hand until I remembered she was holding Go Better's gun from the backpack set. (Why on Earth is the grip square?)

Overall it's great, but the joint too loose on both sets. One pair is not moving unless touched, but other is flopping. I need to figure out the best way to stiffen it without locking.

Also the top half only alt they posted is a complete mess in person. I'm hoping Go Better makes a backpack and I guess a filler for the other two.

Bizarre color choices aside, they do look quite nice and well-molded. Maybe I could consider buying a few of these for my Retro Headmasters Hardhead, and some other figures that I have...

 

He's really cheap at Target right now, that's the only reason I got him in the first place.

 

I’m guessing those Dr Wu weapons are old stock. I know some sellers had them for sale back when they were new. What I think happened is those group of weapons must have shared a mold and were cast in each of the different colors resulting in these leftover variations.

 

These are bonus. Originally they were released in the right colors, but these are long sold out.

 

Dr. Wu Ultra Magnus gap fillers set on Netflix Ultra Magnus with my own custom paint job. Recently purchased a set from wonderfullys on eBay.


Used hobby tape to secure the loose gap fillers (and done in a way to keep them out of sight). Used Tamiya Mica Silver spray (2 coats) for the bicep fillers (~90% match, looks spot on at certain angles / lighting). Used Tamiya Metallic Gray (2 coats) for the dark gray / brown areas followed by Tamiya flat clear spray (2 coats). The color match of Metallic Gray is spot on but the metallic grain is too shiny / big. Used the flat clear spray to tone down the grain and looked good afterward.

The unpainted gap fillers have a slight hint of yellow to them. I may go over those with a flat or semi-gloss white later.
