Starscream is my favorite fictional character ever. He’s the best part in almost every piece of transformers media. I love almost every version, except maybe armada (don’t @ me), bayverse (movies only), and what I’ve read of IDW1 starscream. My absolute favorites are the Prime, animated, cyberverse, cybertron, and the IDW bayverse versions of the character. Hopefully he’s the highlight of the next few movies.
Starscream is my favorite Transformers character, i just really like the concept behind him and see so much potential in it, i like the episode Fire in the Sky which shows he had a friendship with Skyfire, while i hate All Hail Megatron i do find interesting the idea of Starscream fighting for a larger goal compared to a more short sighted Megatron, i'd love to see(or maybe even write)about a Starscream who is a Byronic Hero, outcast by his society, having a grandiose goal but also hampered by his own flaws, it would also be nice to see more stories that flesh out his relationship with the other 3 main seekers Image by MakotoOno I digress, i much prefer TFP's design, it doesn't assault my eye, has a few more Starscream bits and though it's overall a drastic change it also conveys a sense of personality with how sleek and angular he is, reflecting he ain't very powerful but also treacherous How he was written is another convo though That's an idea that came to my head a few times as well, it could create some contrasts, Hot Rod admired Optimus and never wanted to replace him, Starscream is all the opposite in relation to Megatron, it might be interesting to see a story where both of them have to lead the Autobots and the Decepticons respectively after the previous leaders have passed away
It would definitely have a "Next Generation" feel that I think G1 season might have been aiming for (at least with the Autobots), especially if a new universe would to have Rod and Starscream be roughly the same age. In fact, now I have to wonder what Starscream's version of the core '86 Autobot team
To me Starscream is a character who's really fun when used in moderation. Like, strong emphasis on "in moderation". The idea behind the character is fun...a somewhat scrawny and cowardly villain who thinks he can do better than his generally competent leader. I think he's especially fun in something like the '80s cartoon, where they can really play up the silliness of his schtick, and don't have to deal with the ramifications of Starscream constantly betraying his cruel and unforgiving leader (in reality, he'd be killed the first time he tried...which becomes problematic in more serious incarnation). I do feel like Starscream runs the risk of being very repetitive. His schtick is pretty one-note, and it always leads to the same sort of plot we've been seeing since (at least) Prime, where he gets kicked out of the Decepticon ranks for being a traitor, and becomes the main threat by acquiring some sort of power-up ability (because he's too scrawny to be taken seriously as a threat on his own). It's getting to the point where my eyes glaze over when that plot inevitably happens. I think I'd be more receptive towards Starscream having a larger role if they could find some other stuff to do with him.
Starscream’s usually pretty good and entertaining. Cybertron Starscream is definitely my favorite, followed closely by Sunbow. Also his formula predecessors are cool; Leozack and Terrorsaur.
I just remembered that the G1 Decepticons all survived taking a lava bath at the end of “Heavy Metal War” too. Ok, so maybe it wasn’t plot armor & Tarantulus just needed to think it through some more.
Top Decepticon (and Transformer) for me! (my Starscream-only collection says it all ) but only the G1, G1-ish oriented and with certain background twists: A jet fighter warrior/scientist (that already made me a fan!), the fastest and most skilled and intelligent Seeker, ambitious and persistent, young and hot-tempered. I find his personality refreshing and quite interesting... Surely his 'traitorous' and egotistical nature is something kind of 'tiring' and sometimes taken to the extreme, but that's where I guess the 'background' comes in. Plenty of 'justifications' that a fan can come up for this (not a lack of this in the fan fiction spectrum either): e.g., a military model not welcomed from the beginning in the scientific/autobot community, blamed for Skyfire's disappearance, loyal to the Decepticons that sought justice/revenge/true freedom, but routinely mistreated by Megatron from the very beginning... millennia of that surely would have an effect on anyone! (after that treatment I would be traitorous to that jerk too, let me tell you...as far as I am concerned, no one has treated the guy 'as a true friend'). He learned the hard way he had to fend for himself, trust/rely on no one, and fight for his own interests... In the G1 Universe there is no indication Starscream was ever like that before the war, in the contrary... (e.g., his friendship with Skyfire). Overall, his personality, as mentioned in other posts, has also enormous potential for twists and developments. You can always count on Starscream to surprise you with unexpected reactions and statements... Every fan has his/her 'interpretation' of their favourite character, and here you have mine
That's why he's my fave. He is just a fun character to behold and honestly, being the butt-of-all-jokes kinda makes him somewhat relatable. As for this... This is really something that needs to be explored. Personally, I always felt Starscream could have basically been bullied back when he was starting in life and he has now become the bully thanks to that abuse he took previously.
