Revisting this gallery, weeping that I couldn\'t justify backing this myself. \"Your bargaining posture is highly dubious!\"

The mold detailing on Unicron’s horns largely mrror those on the maw pincers. I suspected this before when looking at preview pictures but it’s nice to confirm it in hand. In the movie, I think the planet pincers are intended to become the head horns in robot mode, but that scale doesn’t work well for a figure (G1 prototype aside). So it looks like the engineers did the next best thing, making them mirror each other at different scales. Maw pincer on the left, head horn on the right. Just another great detail on this toy

Nor in any sense of reality that doesn't involve relative mass-shifting. For the horns to be directly transferable and proportionate, his head would make up something like 1/4-1/3 of the entire internal mass of the planet. And I certainly don't remember Unicron coming out looking like a chibi/baby.

I had the same thought of hoping someone would get on a 3D printed piece to raise the head. Take a look at my post below. If you're displaying yours like I am, you "Could" just leave it detached. You'll get just a little bit more movement.

Yeah for sure. It only (kinda) works for the G1 toy prototype because they changed the mass balance between the planet and the rings.

Here’s the interview with the Haslab Unicron designer where he noted the mass shifting as one of the challenges in the design

EXCLUSIVE: Q&A With Takashi Kunihiro, Senior Product Designer at Takara Tomy for Unicron

“The biggest challenge is to make the planet mode a perfect sphere with absolutely no space/crack from any 360 angle. As if that’s not a challenge enough, Unicron has unique robot features so I knew the conversion steps was going to be extremely complicated to build. Another challenge worth mentioning is that even if I wanted to recycle parts like his horn, the size varies as robot vs planet mode so I couldn’t. Therefore, we ended up with twice as much as parts for Unicron and much heavier toy than Fortress. Speaking of weight, if I made this toy as big as 100cm like my first instinct, there was no way plastic could hold that much weight to create the Unicron shape.”

I remember hearing in an interview with a designer at Takara that they wanted to keep as many parts as they could between modes, but because of scale they couldn't. They mentioned the horns specifically

Gotta admit, the de-kibbled look honestly isn't as off putting as I thought it would be but I probably won't display him like this. I mainly did it to satisfy my own curiosity. 20210423_234513.jpg 20210423_234528.jpg

Quick follow up to this. While trying to reattach the backpack piece I dropped the screw onto the carpet and couldn't find it for nearly 10 minutes. I finally did but yeah. I won't be removing Unicron's kibble again after a scare like that :lol

Whats the best to do with the screw gap fillers? Just to push them in or mod them somehow so its possible to remove them later if needed someday?

If someone eventually makes a kit with wings and arm fillers to be able to display the detached kibble in planet mode, it’ll be an insta-buy!

Use some nail polish or future on the sides of the filller to hold them in place.

Yeah, I havent tried to push them in yet. I presume they are made to be a tight fit. But then I couldnt remove them without damage if I needed to disassemble the parts for a joint maintenance or something. So Im considering sanding the covers a bit so they would be a looser fit and keep them in place with a blutack or something. Im wondering if somebody tried that and if it worked out well.

So did anyone here heard anything from Kapow regarding shipping Unicron to international buyers? They seem to be pretty evasive on the matter.

Find your order in your account, and then contact them from there. They said they expected to ship all Unicron's by yesterday, and thanked all UK and EU buyers when saying that.

This bothers me, it seems that other retailers like Amazon.co.uk and Omegalock are able to ship to Europe yet at Kapow the service as of today is still suspended.
I did that two weeks ago but they only gave me a generic answer stating that the figures will be shipped when they get them instock, without addressing the matter of international shipping despite me explicitly mentioning it. I'll contact them again next week if I won't receive a shipping notice.
