Probably my favorite aspect of the DX VF-1 is that, because the larger scale allows for articulated hands (and they are obviously bigger) you can do stuff like this: if it weren’t for the two-part swing bar I’d probably call it my favorite, but as it is I’m about even between it and the Arcadia. I was pretty happy to see that the Hikaru’s VF-1S colors lined up so well with the YF-29 and VF-31F. Makes for a cohesive “hero Valkyries from the movies” setup. (Also! I've been looking for that stand adapter on and off for a couple weeks now and it turns out it was right in front of my face this whole time. I just couldn't see it because of the normal angle I have looking at that shelf from my desk.)
I had originally thought because FB2012 contained, or more accurately is made of 95%, SDF, DYRL content, that it would still be under HG’s purview, content and any merchandise. But with today’s YouTube release of Flashback, I’m betting there’s more loopholes than are obvious as far as how deep this deal goes. I’m getting very hungry for more surprises... content, music, toys/merchandise. Exciting times.
Having the stand alone GBP would be pretty sweet, since I have the Valk(s) already, but I also don't want to deal with the madness. I may have also missed the madness already? lol. Bandai stuff is real nice, but it's exhausting to bother with. At least if I want an Arcadia product I usually have weeks, or months, or even longer to make that determination.
The DX GBP has been sold out on (if not) on TWE suppliers, so you don't have to worry about that @Juraash, however when it shows up on secondary stores (Jungle, Amiami and Manda) a few days/weeks after re-lease date in September then you have to kick it up as it goes fairly quickly. The upcoming Arcadia Nora 51 (to be out in August if I'm correct) is really going to kick you even harder as it will cost you close to 40k yen. This upcoming DX 1J and GBP set pre-order drop will cost you 33k yen (30k yen not including the Japan 10% tax) on late night 27th/early morning of the 28th depending on where you are.
The price on the SV-51 kills me. I love the design and the colors on it, and I'd happily get one at, say, $300 (given the size of the thing it's a "reasonable price" for Macross), but... wallet yikes. Appropriate Macross Zero gif

@OmegaTaco Supreme sorry, should have clarified, I was talking about the upcoming Nora one. Epic colors. Epic price. Maybe it will sit at similar prices on the secondary market and I can snag one well after release. @Morty Prime You can save your wallet some pain - don't bother with any other DX Macross Frontier releases. All the older Frontier ones will be a bit underwhelming compared to the improvements in the YF-29 in the "full set" pack.
It depends on the collector. I like the series better then the movies, so I wanted all the VF-25's. The Renewal versions are awesome. The only issue I had was Alto's arm being a little loose, but the loose arm issue is easier resolved with some Future floor polish. My main problem is finding Ozma's armor for less than $400. It pops up on the sites here and there for about ¥22,000-24,000, but seems to sell out the minute it hits.
I had seen a Yamato Nora in Mandarake not too long ago for ~$180. But it was in the Sahra warehouse and shipping was $193. I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on shipping.
Speaking of Nora.. Here's the Yammie Nora 51 that I got for 18k yen (I think) off Manda over a year and half ago. Would go for the upcoming Arcadia version when the prices seem reasonable after release day. That Arcadia Ivanoff (on Manda) will most likely have the mis-matched feet @Morty Prime so it's your call in getting one.
