DO I PLAY WITH MY TOYS???? YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT I DO!!! My boys and I set up a huge battle 2 weeks ago and had a blast, these are some of the best toys for playing!
Is there some trick to getting the tridigger’s leg to collapse all the way? I just got one and the left leg won’t slide up as far as the right leg leaving it with one leg longer than the other. I’m afraid to force it... Edit: I fixed it. I had to take the leg apart to see how it was working, but there's a little plastic tab underneath that clicks into place when the leg is totally collapsed. It seemed like just taking it apart and reassembling it allowed it to start working normally. Hmm... Side note, is there some trick to putting the head behind the cockpit in the bullet core? The instructions make it seem simple but I'm worried I'll scratch paint off the antennas.
I make sure and pull the cockpit out as far as it will extend. Then I slowly push the head back into the open spot. As long as you make sure the cockpit is extended as far as possible, the head will tilt back into place without scratching. It's something I've had to do with some of the other bullet cores too.
My "play" varies, but yes I do! Sometimes, it is full-on pushing them around, having them fight, and making sounds. (That just tickles my wife...) Other times, it is spending a long time figuring out new play modes and combinations. Or, it can be setting them up on shelves to make scenes that tell a story. And, it can be me laying in bed, staring at whatever is nearby and doing an internal monologue or world building exercises in my head. All are valid and all are play!
LOL!!! I literally laughed out loud. Reminds me of the classic IT Crowd episode where Roy is trying to figure out how his girlfriend's parents died in a fire at a sea parks and she asks him what he's doing.
Why, my diaclone squad always do strafing runs to repel the 'daughter-class' Kaiju (my daughter of course ) that occassionally 'attacks' the V-Max base they stationed at. The Kaiju's unfazed though, and now her 'attacks' to the squad are getting more frequent. Time to relocate? maybe this weekend I'll find a place she can't reach hahah! In all seriousness, I agree with what others said: Diaclone's by far the only collection I have that I keep fiddling with from time to time. Either watching movies on the tv and rarely at times one of 'em followed me all the way to my office! In more than few ways, I understand the reason why my dad bought my older brother's the Multiforce 14 rather than say, the G1 Lambo twins back then. now for the obligatory picture for the thread: I don't have anything new, sorry maybe I'm just waiting for Calibur trijetter
Your army clearly never had to face a dog-class kaiju attack. THEY are the most dangerous class of kaijus, followed by cat-class ones. Dog-class kaijus never leave survivors. They just crush everything.
I'm thinking about getting the Type 2 Soldier. If we do eventually get soldiers matching the Gigantor redeco then I can get two and he can be a squad commander. If we don't then I can still experience the mold. We'll see how things go this month before I put down a preorder.
As far as I understand Diaclone doesn't have much of a backstory or mythos but does anyone know if there's an official explanation for why the robots have heads? In many cases heads that are more human looking than even many Transformers. I realise the answer is probably just 'because it looks cool' but is there supposed to be an AI that can take over if there's no pilot or something like that?
My guess? The head stores extra sensorial devices like cameras in the eyes, microphones, radars and stuff like that, and can broadcast images and sounds (plus eventual x-ray, thermal scanning and so) in the pilot's cockpit to improve his perception of the battlefield. Because, let's be honest, most of the times the cockpit on a diaclone mech makes VERY hard if not even impossible to have a direct sight of the battlefield. About the human looking face (with nose and lips) that could probably be just a design choice of the producers (in the fiction, i mean). It could help civilians to better identify them as "friendly" mechas instead than enemies, expecially when the fight is against an alien force.
That makes sense, definitely. I do like the idea that they also have a backup AI though, like the mechs in Titanfall, that can take over if the pilot is not present or incapacitated. I also wonder about the Warudaros, as there's a clear Giger-esque biomechnical thing going on with a lot of them, to the point where I even questioned whether they were supposed to be simple machines at first. But since they have pilots I suppose they must be. Although I do imagine there being at least some organic component there, rather than just cold metal. I'd welcome a Western comic book series that tried to make sense of it all but on the other hand the lack of backstory feels strangely liberating.
Probably some kind of AI is required in order to move a complex mech like that, so i wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of automatic fighting program in the code, to make them able to function even without the pilot. Also, the idea of a Waruder mech with biological parts (like in Evangelion but more mechanical) makes sense considering we're talking about alien technology. Yet, unfortunately their look isn't so organic to support that theory. It's just a different design with more curved shapes.
I actually like that there isn't fiction beyond the high-level backstory. In fact, that is most of the appeal to me and getting detailed how to think when I play would take away what has captured my imagination so... The fact that I get to world build and you differently is awesome. You tell me yours have AI. That's cool. Mine don't. I tell you most my Warudroids are biomechanical drones that are part of a hive mind with royalty leaders and the drones don't have high-level thinking ability is okay too. (I do think "Berserker" mode in the instructions of DA-38 without pilot hints at the Waruda mechs not having complex AI... And my thinking this shows how my play pattern is influenced by that factoid...)
