So given my proclivity for renaming figures that share names with other molds, I’ve added a new figure to my CHUG collection that falls under this category, but with a slight alteration.

    I also changed his faction.

This was originally Decepticon Onslaught from the Universe line. I’d never owned this figure before. And at the time of its release I had a weird thing about buying multiple versions of the same character. I already had a G1 Onslaught (in the form of RID Mega-Octane) that I was perfectly satisfied with. I did think the robot and alt modes looked cool for this figure, but my mindset hadn’t expanded to where I am today with my collecting criteria.
There was also a green redeco of this mold that was Autobot Hardhead. I did not have a Hardhead figure, but I thought this mold was actually a downgrade from a tank for the character, so I left it alone. I preferred the deco on the Onslaught version, just didn’t care to own it at that time.

So, fast forward to today where I’m actually more creative in my 40s about this sort of thing and now I’m going thru the backlog of CHUG figures that I’m having second thoughts about. I picked up this figure off eBay, still in its original packaging, for around $30. Not too shabby. When I took it outta the box though, the rubber bands had disintegrated and turned into glue basically. Cleaned him up, slapped a couple Autobot symbols on him, and re-christened him.

Meet Rampart, the Autobot’s negotiator and tactical operations officer. He’ll be the first one to try to reason with you, but if that doesn’t work then he’ll be the first one thru the door coming after you.
Rampart is a nice chunk of a robot, I miss that sometimes. The highly detailed and engineered figures of today are great, but sometimes you just want a nice, blocky, hefty, robot. Rampart fits that bill nicely.

“Send in the car!” Remember that scene in Die Hard where the SWAT operation is about to go down? I think Rampart would have a better chance of surviving a direct rocket blast. This is a very cool SWAT APC. Great riveting detail and cool coloring with a couple fun play features. I like the ground claws, the turret can rotate, and the lights/sounds function still works even after being in a box for 13 years.

I like that the riot shield can store on top of the turret without getting in the way of those functions too. I’m really glad I got this figure. I always admired it from afar, but now I have the wherewithal to come up with a new head-canon for it so that I can properly enjoy it. And now I have a new character for my collection.

    Rampart. Don’t forget it!

I’m likely in the minority here, but I’d love to see some experimentation with size classes from hasbro one day.

specifically, I’d love to see what they could do with a line where vehicle scale was the primary focus which would lead to huge size differences in robot mode. Especially if there was a focus on combiners and city bots.

    Using the current classes:
Micromaster could be cars and such
Core class could be trucks and similar
Deluxes could be tanks and planes, duocons
Modulators could become limbs for some deluxes that have an extra torso mode (like the mobine set attached to heavy tread above)
Voyagers could be whatever vehicles and bases fit at that size, maybe figures with trailers ie a powermaster prime or star saber
    Leaders could be combiner sets.
Commander class could be city bots and vehicle playsets
Titan class could be the largest size city bot or Autobot city from the 86 movie.

I'm SO much more into alt modes scaling appropriately – even if it's "relative" scaling (e.g. – cars = deluxe/Jets = voyager) – then basing the lines scaling off some asinine scale charts for a cheaply made cartoon that wasn't even consistent within itself....

this is an aside to your point, but I've wanted someone to make a scaled Star Wars vehicle for soooo long., like fighters about the size (or a bit smaller) of the current Hot Wheels versions with Mid sized ships (falcon/shuttles/ghost/slave1) scaled to them and larger capitol ships done bigger, but again, at a relative scale since they'd be absurd otherwise, but with a Star Destroyer being like 18" long and other capital ships scaled appropriately to that... pretty much the Fantasy Flight Games miniatures but at mass-market prices :p )

Definitely, I’m not really one for accuracy so scale charts don’t really make sense to me.

If Starscream is a jet, he should be bigger than Optimus. It not only makes it more realistic, but also adds to the sense of danger. Prime and the autobots are the underdogs in that situation. Then you add combiners and city bots into the situation, it makes the main autobots feel somewhat small, but subconsciously also makes the scale of the war feel bigger.

Maybe something like this? 11B91D58-F637-4A7F-AEB0-DC3F13A5D19B.jpeg 7DE9888D-030B-4976-96BB-E2268161EEB1.jpeg

and definitely on the scale vehicle stuff from Star Wars. I used to love the micro fleet stuff with the little pilots

so much agreement: that's why, despite not loving the mold, I really liked the CW Leader Seekers, they felt somewhat appropriately scaled to deluxe cars.

Used to have this figure, think he was a victim of the toy purge when moving years ago. Reading your post kinda makes me want him back. A solid bot indeed

It’s an oversized KO of the Iron Factory Seeker. I’ll admit I’m a bit embarrassed to own it, as I’m usually not a fan of KOs, but an eBay seller included him with a different purchase a couple years ago so I kinda just ended up with it.

It’s a really solid figure. Excellent articulation and joints and the surprising the plastic quality is leaps and bounds better than the original figure.

I quite like the dynamic my two leaders have. Prime is smaller, more nimble and flexible, while Megatron is a hulking, massive, slow war machine.

Dinobots and Shattered Glass, honestly not sure if I'll get the new Swoop when it comes out, I kind of like him being smaller and red
