Has Backdraft had a second run already or is he also in the possibility for a new reissue?

 

Assuming Grump successfully gets reissued, and assuming Fanstoys releases Huffer soon, this will be the only minibot I'll still need in orded to complete the pre-movie minibots. So hurry up and make it happen, MMC.

Man, I keep checking here to see news on reissue after that tease in January. With how unreal the AM prices are on Hellion I'm coming close to settling for Toro, despite how much I dislike XTB.

 

Yeah still don’t. I don’t have much of the older OX figures. I just have Zinnia, Saltus and Assaultus.

 

Hellion is a good CJ. The face sculpt is a bit cute, but beside Bee V2, it's not so jarring.

 

Oh man I really hope this is true. I was really aching for Hellion, even when I already had Toro, I'll gladly sell it if I can get my hands on this

 

Hellion is almost my winner for Cliffjumper placeholder but the thigh/pelvis/ab area is out of whack. The abs especially in being way too long. He does so much right but that area is just wrong. I wonder if it would be possible to mod those proportions better and still transform?

 

Hellion's proportions are inherent to how his core design works. His doors are hinged to the edges of his waist line so if it was narrower they'd have nothing to connect to and if his hips were larger they wouldn't fit inside his forearms as they do. Due to being an entirely kibble free design and having a car interior he has very little space to work with so parts can only be so large for such a design to work.

He would have had to be approached with very different design priorities to produce a different result, not the kind of thing you can just conveniently fix.

 

Funny you should mention the interior. I just got done re-watching emgo's review of him and the interior definitely did this thing in. I would've gladly sacrificed the interior to have proper proportions and a normal looking waist, crotch and ab section. Interiors are great and all but that open interior added nothing here since you can't even fit any figures inside it. Plus it hurt the overall design, IMO. It's wasted potential.

This and Toro definitely have very good parts about them but they both failed hard in very specific ways. Toro has the enormous backpack and windshield ridiculously jammed under his head and Hellion has strange proportions thanks to sacrifices made for the useless open interior. Unfortunately that disqualifies both for me. The perfect mix would be Toro's overall bot design and proportions with Hellions toon-like car mode and clean backpack. But alas.

I'm just going to have to hold out until TT or FT do their versions before buying one.

 

I'm not crazy about the proportions but I just can't handle the idea of going years with a hole in my minibot lineup now that I'm so close to finishing it. Plus, since I've got Jazz, Bumblebee, and Spike w/ his exo-suit, I need Cliffjumper to complete the moonbase crew in my movie lineup. That's two holes I need this toy to fill, damn it.

Welp. My best wishes to everyone who's in on this. I already have mine but i'm getting the Toro reissue and using that as my main Cliff. Aside from the backpack, proportions look a bit better to me on it.

 

Where you like MMC Assaultus, you would definitely like Hellion. Clever transformation. The headsculpt could be better in my opinion but overall he is a great toy.

 

Reissue version will be more expensive, which is confirmed already by MMC, read in Baidu today. I guess MMC just following the example of XTB/FT setup.
