    Yeah.

That's MP car bot size. Nothing new.

What are we complaining about again?

Definitely, I was looking up pictures of Honda City cars but didn't see this was a Turbo. And that's part of what I don't like about these shots - the paint apps just seemed sloppy. On the real-world car it all looks OK, even if it's not to my taste, but as you point out, the thick paint on this made it so I couldn't even really tell that it said TURBO. I also wish they fit the entire Autobot logo on that little bump. These are all minor complaints but they add up to me to make a figure that looks sort of sloppy. I hope you're right, and that the final release cleans up some of these issues, and if it looks cleaner once we get some in-hand reviews I may still be in for it.

A reminder: need to make sure the store chosen has after sale service for Hasbro/TT products. US retailers/Amazon JP etc may be good but a lot of other retailers do not provide this service for Hasbro/TT products.

Just pre-ordered Skids at Anime Export. A bit cheaper than Amazon Japan, if Amazon Japan will ever put Skids up for pre-order that is...

Definitely picking this up, love me some Skids! I've even got the XTB version, but this looks great. I hope some 3P makes the little bike in blue to go with him. Not interested in the red one with the Optimus head.

Has Kōjin Ōno made any comments about working on mp Skids? I wonder what it's like to remake something from your past like that.

There is an interview. I only have its Chinese translation:
    访谈:大野光仁谈MP刹车设计(中文翻译)

In the interview, he explained the new direction of MP: avoid over complicated design and low down the cost.

So..... Studio 86 designs for half MP money? Dont get me wrong, some of the Studio 86 designs, and even other lines are spectacular (Kingdom Cyclonus for one but that should have been Studio 86 really) and exceed the designs of the early Masterpiece figures. Also the costs of the MP line have been running away with the close to $500 MP-44 which came with overcomplex knees and they took a big self inflicked wound trying to cheap out on MP-47 Hounds plastic but regardless of that, the market is there for premium price figures, perhaps less so at $500 but the 3rd party producers own figures sell from $100-$300 without much problems.

I dunno, I think its great for the original designer of the line broke out his pencils but he has pushed past 60 and he may just not be as creative anymore, its missing a lot of modern articulation methods that you see on much more basic and higher production figures.

I don't see it. This is definitely a weaker release.

It's not even really about there not being a market for those figures or that people just do not want to pay a premium price per say, but rather a direct response to a lot of complaints consumers have had over the past few years with Masterpiece, especially in Japan, of Takara charging more and more for their releases to make up for more and more advanced engineering in their designs that usually tried to reinvent the wheel with something like Prime's knees only to often prove in a few releases to be a bit problematic. The general consensus on a lot of feedback was that Takara was charging higher prices but the product often didn't have the quality or more importantly the QC to back it up, and that not only damaged their reputation but more than likely also effected potential sales.

I don't think Takara means for all "premium price" MPs to go away forever, though, and I'm sure something else will come along that still pushes the MP line with more advanced engineering (and price). But with this release the goal was to try and keep it simple like with the original MP carbots that have been so popular while at same time conveniently offer a new release that's also much easier on fan's wallets.

He still looks to have above average articulation, not as good as recent MPs but not bad overall. Ono designed Starscream, and beside a waist swivel they could have tried to over engineer everything else is there.

I think Honda would. They're not exactly the snobs of Lamborghini or Porsche level.

Besides, have you seen an Element's factory color options?

I'd say they'd be willing to do the same for a forty year old City design if it got them more recognition.

The real question is, where is the Black Vanette?

If budget allows, I\'ll get both. But Skids is a must buy. Finally, an MP I\'ve looked really forward since Hound (my Hound still has no cracks! Yay!).
