Gee your that obsessed that you did a goggle search to find where I got the info just so you could one up me.... and imply that by not posting links I must be wrong or a jerk in some way.Seriously, Why go through that much effort?

I'm commenting at a web site.
I was just trying to talk to someone else.
I brought up those points in response to something they said.
    I'm making no money
    What compensation am I getting?

You found them great good effort. You should be so proud of yourself. I won't do this to you next time you do the same thing, I have better things to do with my time.

Honestly this says more about you than me. I hope you have gotten your little ego boost now.

Now can we get back to the discussion at hand?

Or would you just prefer I leave the discussion would that make you happy?

I’m reading very sympathetic takes on Brubaker’s ennui online, but again, I’m having a hard time getting too misty eyed. He was under contract and in this day and age, he should have known how that works.

I will say, what happened to Brubaker is why creators have these epic runs at the big two and then springboard off to independent work. And it’s why there’s some teeth to the criticism that modern writers care less about continuity and existing characters, and more about writing a vanity project that will make them popular.

I think I’d have more sympathy if this was G. Willow Wilson, Brian Michael Bendis, or Jonathan Hickman as in those three’s cases they at least created original characters (Ms Marvel, Miles Morales, and the Black Order) that have found their way to the big screen. But even then, you know what you’re getting with Marvel and DC. Mark Millar said in an interview given at the end of Civil War that he really regretted handing Marvel the “50 State Initiative” so it’s not like there wasn’t a recent example of a creator regretting the terms of these contracts.

Most do yes, though that doesn't always excuse how they treat creatives these days. EA and Activision are famous for firing artists and devs then giving their executives bonuses. Many companies feed off these creative's talents and then casually throw them away. Yes they many knew this might happen going in, but honestly up till about 15 years ago both marvel and DC had better incentives and bonuses for creatives. Now they are going back to how bad they were in the 30's and 40's.

DC has or had an arrangement in their contracts where writers who create an original IP get a percentage of the money if that character is featured in future media.

Marvel has no such contract with their employees, who are strictly work for hire

This is why many of the bigger names have been doing more independent comic work. Some like Mark Millar and Robert Kirkman have seen it pay off with TV and movie deals.

I tend to agree. Although I definitely think the entire comic industry is due for a rethink of how they handle creators in general. The reason this is making news is because of the hook of Brubaker making more from his cameo. Well, that's because his cameo was union work, and the actor's union has made strides for that kind of thing. Comics could certainly use a union (although I suspect that's a logistical impossibility).

Also, I always feel like this kind of conversation doesn't properly account for all the creators involved in making something a success. When work gets adapted, the adapters tend to get blamed if it goes badly - "You RUINED so-and-so's work!" - but when an adaptation works there's always this tendency to credit the success to the original author - "You couldn't have done it without so-and-so!" Maybe Markus, McFeely, and the Russo brothers have at least a little to do with why Winter Soldier is such a valuable property now. If the four of them had whiffed it and the movie was awful, Brubaker's work wouldn't be any different, but the whole world wouldn't know who the Winter Soldier is like it does now. So, should Brubaker be owed more on the back of the success of others? It's a complex issue.

People enable Marvel and DC to act this way. The best fix would be for comics creators to unionize, but that’s never going to happen for the same reason the video game industry doesn’t unionize. There’s a large number of fans ready and willing to jump in and do the job, making any kind of organized response that could demand change impossible.

Both the comic book and video game industries are incredibly abusive industries, especially if you work at the major players. And it is for a lot of the same reasons.

Quick aside, how watchable is this if I've not seen much MCU stuff?

I've seen some MCU stuff but for example haven't seen Avengers Endgame, Dr Strange, Black Panther, either Antman or WandaVision.

This has some call back to events that happened in infinity war and Endgame, characters from Black Panther do come into play. The other stuff isn't needed.

You may be able to watch without them though.

You probably need to watch at least all the Captain America films to understand who the characters are and what's going on with them.

Okay... IS IT NEXT WEEK YET BECAUSE I NEED MORE!

Also, there's a quick extra scene after the main credit roll.

Sam's talk with Bucky was so Captain America. Not the best episode but it does get me excited for next week!

But with Zemo going to the Raft, Ross is definitely setting up the Thunderbolts considering that prison is under his Jurisdiction. I could see John becoming US Agent and becoming one of the members. Also the cameo was the lady who spoke with John. She's Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, AKA Madame Hydra.

The post credits scene. Seems John is forging a new shield but it can't be Vibranium, it's so hard to come by. Perhaps Adamantium. That'd be crazy. Hoping US Agent actually shows up next episode.

Another thing, Torres will become Falcon just like in the comics. Sam did tell him to keep the wings. But our boi Sam is getting quite an upgrade with Wakandan wings. I wish we caught a glimpse of it!

    BRUH

Did not expect Julia Louis-Dreyfus to be the cameo at all. A surprise to be sure but a welcome one.

    Did this episode foreshadow...
...Sharon being the Power Broker? Maybe I'm just overthinking the call with Batroc, but she gave off that vibe to me, since she could've hired him to go after Karli in the finale.

With only one episode left, I'm excited to see how the show concludes.

The calm before the storm. Not the best episode, but not a slouch either. Love the character moments that this show has been giving us.

The only main complaints I have are the cinematography for this episode and the way Bucky acts between the two half’s. Some shots are really good and some are really jarring. Also, the editing seemed sketchy towards the end.

Post Credits scene was short but exciting. Really looking forward to John Walker in the future, seems like they’re setting him up for more than this show.

That had to be the most brutal fight we’ve gotten in the MCU thus far(not counting the non-canon shows).

Russel is killing it as Walker, here comes US Agent. And with Zemo going to the Raft, I sense Thunderbolts setup!

And that surprise cameo, apparently we’ll be seeing more from her, cause were it not for the pandemic, we would’ve gotten her in Black Widow first.
