    Nobody gains by signing mojo.

He has a degree and background in finance. He’d probably be at better slamming #s than he ever was slamming dudes

Except for the fact that Cardona is signed with Impact. He only had a few brief appearances in AEW, which were probably a favor from Cody.

According to Vince's number 1 suck up Laurinaitis these were "budget cuts".

Sigh, if only. What on earth was the point of breaking up Heavy Machinery and the Iiconics ? Nobody benefitted from those decisions.

The talent cull is likely to continue on Friday. They'll get stuck into NXT.

    Ummm...

    Exactly.

    https://www.allelitewrestling.com/aew-roster
Look at that roster. It's massive and needs to be reduced before they start bringing on even more people. How many of those people in The Dark Order are actually being used? What about the baby oil guy? I mean, who actually wants to watch a match with Luther in it? How many of these "talents" are there because they're friends with Cody, Omega, or The Bucks?

I get that TK has that billionaire Daddy's money, but there has to be a point where common sense kicks in and they start getting to the point of making some real money. Trim that fat before bringing in more established talent.

For what it's worth, I would love to see Samoa Joe join AEW because I think he could have some great matches with several people on that roster.

It’s either TK signs them or Vince finally wises up and starts a collaboration with AEW like they’re doing with NJPW & Impact!

And since Vince is too stupid and stubborn to break down the “Forbidden Door”, then signing everyone out of spite it is

Thus far, aside from the initial investment, AEW is making enough on shirts, figures, and TV deals to be profitable enough without daddy billionaire money. This isn’t Dixie Carter blowing her parents fortune so she can be on TV and be a ring rat.

    ———————-

Was thinking about Tuckers release. Dude never stood a chance. Unless you were previously established on the main roster as a solo star, there’s no way to survive being the “boring” straight man to someone who gets to do all the humor, hot tags, crowd spots, etc.....

Best case scenario, team never breaks up and you get low to mid tier cash for a prolonged period of time. Worse yet, and more likely, the one that got to show off and be charismatic gets a push while you feud with them as the “fed up serious heel” who has to be new/unique but also similar enough to your own character for optics... so your new persona has no chance to get over. Even worse, you’re kept as an act, but you become a glorified valet/manager for your partner’s singles rise... which has lower pay and an even more permanent ceiling for how far it can go.

Best case scenario, you’re silently dropped from the team (no feud) and redebut half a year (or more) later as someone else / new gimmick, which is really risky, but stands the best shot of succeeding

Agree they need to trim the AEW roster a little. In terms of the girls though, Iiconics and Mickie really don’t hurt, neither does Joe.

Yeah I wouldn’t miss Luther or baby oil guy. Just no need for the depth until Dark becomes big enough to be their official ‘B’ show.

WWE has a real problem building and maintaining faces, it's a problem they've had for years now. Look at how the belts are spread out on Raw and Smackdown, it's heel-centric. They keep getting off and on the pot with Drew and the booking for Riddle, Keith Lee and Big E is enough to tell you Vince doesn't believe in any of them. They couldn't even maintain Edge's babyface heat for a few months so turned him heel and threw Bryan into the Mania match out of fear that Edge would get booed and Reigns cheered. AJ, Rollins, Elias, Otis, Morrison, all working heel. Strowman, Zayn, KO and Orton kinda doing their own thing.

NXT produces a fun but legit blue collar face tag team in Heavy Machinery that has good fan reactions - Vince gets his hands on them and they're ruined. Guys like Ricochet, Ali, Nakamura, Black are given to Vince and he just doesn't get them and doesn't know what to do with them.

Anyway, let's see if there's anymore releases today. It may be the end of Robert Stone's brand and Velveteen's dream.

This is a big part of what AEW struggles with. To maintain the identity they’ve created, they need a steady stream of indie-types... even if they aren’t the best. Again, avoiding becoming a “lesser -WWE” in terms of stigma. Though critics will attack either decision. More indies and its “Who wants to watch these nobodies.” Hire more stars and its “Look at the WWE rejects.”

Plus, some of these guys, like Joey Janella, were killing it on the indie scene and COULD be big if given enough attention. The problem is that AEW is a new company and has to be swinging for the fences ASAP. They can’t take a hit and build slowly. Their best possible result (making big name stars that were never WWE) requires an up front sacrifice of ratings. At the same time, they can’t swing for the fences with all established names, because then they’re a knock off. So we have a weird mix of established guys and talented indies who haven’t been given the chance to develop on tv. AEW is trying to compete AND build simultaneously ... to mixed results. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

So we get episodes dominated by the “nobodies” AEW needs to build and other eps where it IS knockoff WWE/TNA. The knockoff WWE eps have better ratings, but aren’t good for the long term big picture. There’s a balance to find that they’re still figuring out

Camera phone videos of Rhea Ripley's entrance at WM sounded better than what was broadcast.

If this match happens, Cesaro will not spin Roman and Roman will win with Jey's help.

EDIT: ok, so it was changed, Cesaro wins against Jey Uso.
