That light bar looks terrible being that oversized. Having it light up isn't worth the aesthetic cost.

Is it really far off the size of one on a 1980’s police car though? 33543131-F485-49B0-8CB4-743B98E15D38.jpeg

Working on it, originally I was holding out for Fanstoys for bot mode Combaticons but I'm not sure it's going to happen so I'm getting the MMC.

Yes. The actual red light is enormous compared to the size of the actual car mode. Granted, the first picture on TFSource it looks grossly oversized. A few down tho at the angle it's at it doesn't look nearly as bad. Looking at my Badcube Red Alert and the difference is huge overall.

Edit: Just looked at TT Prowl and the size difference is easily noticeable.

The Datsun is a much smaller car than this big Ford cruiser here. There were no LED light bars in 1987 for squad cars so I can see transplanting this light on top of a Datsun is going to end up looking funny.

Perhaps X-Transbots will use the combiner torso to make a fire truck that compensates for the fact Hot Spot has two different alternate modes between the cartoon/comic and original toy.

I like the chunky lights, everything in the 80's was chunky but I'm never gonna use batteries in a transformer. I just hope this combined mode is solid and stable.

I have some hope since it's now gonna be their second combiner, Zeta seemed to improve a bunch with their 2nd one.

Also Groove, that toy was so ugly, we need to see how they handle that shenanigans.

when they look huge on a full size sedan and a late "70's Nova they are going to look gigantic on a little sports car.

Looking up real life ones the size apparently isn’t too ridiculous. It seems pretty big too. Maybe not quite as big but that’s a subtle diff

What's disappointing is that these guys may not scale well compared to the Combaticons in bot mode.

According to TFS, the Zeta limb bots were all 8.3 inches, while the MMC ones ranged from 7.5 inches (Swindle and Vortex) to 9.1 inches (Brawl).

The GT Protectobot limb bots were all 6.7 inches, but that was to be expected since their Defensor was expected to be 15 inches, far shorter than the Zeta Bruticus (20 inches) or the MMC one (17 inches, maybe 18 if you get the add on kit).

So then we get the announcement on Protectobots from MMC and XTB and... according to the ShowZ pre-orders the MMC limb bots will be ... 6.7 inches, just like GT and the XTB Streetwise, according to TFS is -- you guessed it -- 6.7 inches.

No matter who makes the Protectobots, they can't seem to make the limb bots longer than a satisfactory wiener. The companies already said their Defensors will match up to their counterparts (MMC to MMC and XTB to the Zeta one), but that just means either Hot Spot will be hella long to make up the difference in MMC's case or there will be a long pants-former for the XTB. Regardless, to get back to my main point, the individual bots won't match up, no matter what company you pick.

    Your thoughts, @RVDA ?

My thoughts are that Combiners have three potential scale sets to emulate that are almost entirely incompatible with each other. So it's no use getting all super nitpicky about it.
