I don’t know what is going on with cards. This sign is up at one of the Targets I check infrequently (was redrum2581’s local store).
I've seen the people rush for the Pokemon cards. I go by a Walmart for work. Back when the BS Clone Wars was coming out, Walmart had hours cut back so I could get there when they opened without leaving that much earlier then normal for work. Almost every time I was there at opening, there would be a few guys that would run to the card section. The Walmart workers had to yell at them to slow down. They'd go nuts pulling card packs/boxes off the shelf into their cards. Never been into Pokemon cards so I have no idea what is so hot in those packs. Must be something they can scalp since they would take every one of the sets.
Yea it's insane with the sports cards here. There will be a line of people with family members when the restock person comes at my target. You're only allowed to get 1 box so they get 1 for them, wife, kid etc.
I think it's with just about everything right now. Hell, I was at a nursery the other day, and the lady who worked there was telling me how there was an entire queue of vehicles waiting for them to open in the morning and how even basic house plants were selling out in ten minutes. On a weekday.
I had no idea that cards are in any way hot. I have some sense of a lot of other collectibles just being around this forum, but zero idea what happens in the land of cards.
Judging by eBay sales, they’ve made it to San Antonio, Austin (grrr!), and Mission (all the way by Mexico).
I think it's basketball cards, then a tie between football and pokemon cards, with baseball, magic and yugio that are left....The crazy part is Target announcing online when they have the cards in stock hence the line out the door 3 am as if it was a black friday event, but at least they're doing a virtual line with them, and some walmart are starting to put the cards behind the CSR desk. Which is very smart to do. But yeah it's crazy with the scalping going on with them.
Yeah, card scalping is no joke in my area. Before they had the line setup, I saw a guy grab 8 boxes of some kind of sports card set and trot off. Another member just south of me sees the card people all the time. Hell, when Pokemon cards came with cereal, the scalpers were all over that! I'm pretty sure those same people go after the NECA Turtles too (and also Hot Wheels). I'm going to be honest, this disguise 4 pack may be the death of me, haha! But I didn't see any at Frank and Sons which is either an encouraging sign, or a really REALLY bad one.
I'll hit up some stores tomorrow, but then work hits hard and it'll be a few weeks before i can get back to checking at a time they're likely to still be there. If anyone happens to find an extra, i'll happily reimburse you. I've also got a spare S7 Raphael and Foot Soldier to trade if that helps.
Well Neca releasing product so I would hope he means Playmates who hasnt released anything in what a yr now? Oh wait they just did the comic b&w exclusives Yeah I think they already hit our area which sucks
Just came back from Target, and while I did not see the disguise pack, I did find 5 splinter-stockman packs. The funny thing was that they were on an endcap in the toy section amongst other random toys. It's always best to keep an eye out everywhere for these things. The store only has one small spot designated for TMNT in the neca section, which was filled with other figures at the moment. Makes me wonder if the neca guy sees there's no room on the shelf and then just doesn't fill it with anything.
I'm hitting a few out of the way Targets today, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I swear, I'm gonna look like a crazy person if I see these sets, haha!
I think Duarte, CA WM has more pinball crates, I picked up 3 for my friends, but looked like a whole case that an employee pulled out of the back around 7:20am.
