In terms of IDW, or now "IDW 2.0"

The general amateurish tablet art. Even in some of IDW's lowest moments, there was still some artistic appeal in the art department. IDW's current comics right now are jumping the shark in terms of "worst Transformers art" because there's no artistic style, just piss-poor tablet art. Especially given TF's long diverse artstyles in the comics.

 

What does "tablet art" mean?

What he means is that the quality of that tablet art looks really sh*tty. He also compared it to Tumblr art, which is also 99.9% sh*tty as well.

Because coming off of the predecessor artists such as Guido, Milne, Griffith, or any of the older fill-in artists, this just looks terrible in comparison.

Yeah, echoing the sentiments of the thread creator an many others, but it was the movie...which I didn't even see in the 80's, for me it was just a season ended with the story in the mid-80's and Optimus and Megatron were the leaders, to now it's 2005 and Rodimus Prime and Galvatron were in charge, and frankly, it was just tough to give two shits about Rodimus Prime and Galvatron. Even though I was a little kid, even then I couldn't handle Rodimus's doubtful, whiny crap and knew he needed to cowboy the fuck up. Galvatron...eh, I liked Megatron better but it was less of an absence than Optimus. And not just the story, but I liked that the Transformers turned into stuff we could actually see. I got Sideswipe before I had ever seen a Lamborghini, so when I did happen upon one (restaurant parking lot in Oak Brook, IL, so not that surprising to find one there) my eyes bugged out of my head not so much because that was the natural reaction to seeing a Countach in the mid-80's, but because it was fucking Sideswipe right there. But Hot Rod, Kup, Blurr...who cares. At least in 84-85 when you have a Jetfire or Omega Supreme that didn't turn into something recognizable, they were the novelty, the exception to the rule and cool for that reason. But everyone being pseudo-futuristic unknown whatever? Naw, loses a good portion of what made TF's cool to so many.

Anyway, yes, it was the movie that jumped the shark.

 

Well, sure. It isn't better than Guido, Milne, etc. But it isn't worse either.
