Anyone else keep up with this show? I watched the first season when it aired, and while I enjoyed the style and animation, I wasn't too thrilled with the storylines. They weren't bad, but I guess I was holding them up against the Batman cartoons of the 90's. But I started watching season 5 when the Justice League members began to show up, and went back and watched Season 4 and the show is actually pretty damn good. Next week Hawkman comes out, and the show is telling the story at the time when the JLA is slowly coming together. It's also nice to see that the show is in its 5th season, seeing as how most, if not all, of the good DC shows (ie. JLA and JLU) are off the air.
They did run pretty much nonstop for 10 years. I guess the DC franchise is strong enough to handle another 10 years of re-tread.
I'm enjoying the show enough to keep watching it. I thought it was funny after I think season 3, they slightly tweaked the batman design to look more like the 90s cartoon version. He wasn't as rounded and pointy as the first few seasons.
I used to be the same way, not really interested in it at first, but now it's totally grown on me. Just like League of Superheros which is on right before it. And in my opinion, they're both the only good cartoons that are airing right now.
i love the batman...always have...and i love how the series is going lately, with the inclusion of the justice league...i just wonder where it will go from here...
See, and now I have to try League of Superheroes for the same reason. I think I'm going to DL some episodes and see how much I like them.
Cough... Legion of Super-heroes... Cough... Anyway, I am a big fan of The Batman. I was converted around the third episode (I think) -the one where he meets Catwoman for the first time. Once I stopped expecting the show to live up to its animated namesake I found it to be very good. My only problem is that Batman is letting everyone know his identity. So far everyone from the Justice League knows -most by his own unmasking. I take that back, my real problem with the show is that there was this subplot of Batman\Bruce's relationship with Elen Yin that was completely dropped! Seriously, I love it and consider it among the best animated action shows currently on -second only to Avatar.
cough.... Smasher cough.... The animation is that show is beyond awesome, especially when they are driving and you see the street lights wash over their forms. Not many shows on TV ooze with that much style and animation quality.
Also, Legion of Super-heroes has a decidedly different flavor the second season than it did the first. I hope it gets renewed, but seeing as there is still no toy line for it, I don't think it is.
I am going to have to give it a chance... I liked batman:TAS to much to accept another portrayal of batman.
I felt the same way, but it really is a good show when taken on it's own. I mean, if Batman:TAS and The Batman were both on at the same time I would take TAS without question. You just have to realize this is a new interpretation. I would suggest The Rubberface of Comedy\The Clayface of Tragedy as a good "give it a go" story point. If you like it, though, then start at the beginning because the Batman character does grow as the series progresses.
Been watching since the start. Took it about a half season to grow on me but now I really enjoy it. I've got season 1-4 and the movie on dvd now. I was skeptic too, being a big fan of the Timmverse. The Batman vs. Dracula movie is quite darker than the show. You'de probably really like that. So far out of all the JL guest stars, I like the Green Lantern one the best.
I picked this show up on DVD mostly, and I would have to say it didn't really get interesting until half-way into Season 3 and the beginning of Season 4. Best overall story-wise would have to be Batman vs. Dracula though, much darker tone more suited to the character and more depth in the supporting cast. My main problem with the series was the interpretation of some of the characters, they just didn't seem to fit to me (Penguin as a martial arts expert at the same level as the Batman is really stretching it).
Yeah, going through one episode of S4 every evening and damn, I love it more and more. I even love the portrayal of Batgirl and Robin.
so is this series officially over? I was just watching a Killer Croc episode tonight on Boomerang, and ever since CW here had it, they've been screwing it over non-stop. The would place it at the very end of their time slot {11:30AM} but some terrible College Football pregame show would take place {it was really bad, I like college football, but this was just two old fogies talking} so I never really got to see as much as I wanted to oh, and sorry to bump it, but I'd like to know and figure it's nicer to get a response here
I think the show is really good, but it's not as keen as TAS. Some of the storylines are pretty good, though I'm curious about why Penguin is so prominent in it. Joker understandably, but Penguin? Scarecrow would have been a better choice and he's nowhere to be seen in the first few seasons. (I haven't yet watched 4 and 5.) I think all of the incarnations of the gallery are otherwise good. This Joker is a bit irritating though and what's with the bare feet? The producers were wise to put Batgirl in the show in Season 3 and her portrayal worked, I think.
Thanks to some stupid thing called the Bat-Embargo, WB won't allow Scarecrow in The Batman since he already showed up in the Nolan films.
