I normally only go for original TF characters, but I make a few exceptions... particularly when it's boosting the ranks of the Decepticon carbots. In my head-canon, this guy took on an Optimus-a-like look in order to make the Autobots hesitate before shooting him, thereby giving him an edge in battle.

Besides, I've already got Savant as my Skids, and I prefer to have different brands for mold-mates (if possible) so that they're the same, but different. And with him being bigger than Savant (it seems), it just feels more appropriate for a Decepticon. He'll look great with Badcube's Captain Huffy.

I LOVE the head. Lots of Diaclone heads were similar. It looks similar to Prime sure, but this head is amazing. Really excited for Reboost.

 

Notice the paint wear around those two pins at the bottom of the car? It almost looks like it's silver under that red, which could mean two things: base coat of silver or grey, or diecast feet/heels.

 

This is a wet dream for the people that reminisce for the days of Hasui AND love 3P offerings AND think OG G1 was the best ‘it’ can be. Only thing this is missing is rubber tires for the Toon-Aesthetic Detractors to have a full on orgasmic conniption

I try to do the same. For example, I chose the Ocular Max version of Inferno but the MakeToys version of Grapple. If this guy does get re-coloured as CrossCut I may pass because I already have the X-Transbots version...

They haven't put them up yet by the looks of it. Been checking regularly.

 

Could very likely be because it's a gray resin prototype that was painted over in the final colors. Might be that gray resin showing through rather than any diecast metal.

Its been awhile since i preorder anything from AE or NY. Has the Yen gone up in value or what? No longer is it cheaper to order from AE or NY.

 

After seeing people mention that Reboost resembles Optimus (and they're not wrong, there are similarities) I felt like looking up the release order in Diaclone for a bit of fun.

The Honda City R [Crosscut, Reboost] Was Car Robo No. 6. (The City Turbo [Skids] was No. 9).

Battle Convoy [Optimus] was No. 17

So well actually Optimus resembles Reboost....

 

That’d be hilarious if Optimus totally stole some dude’s looks, and carrying over the idea of Primus Apotheosis from IDW1, Reboost just gets retroactively lumped in with the condition even though he was the originator of the style.

 

Really liking the red City Turbo, but the bot mode just doesn’t do enough for me to really want this (especially with no place for it in my collection). Maybe I’ll bite if Takara decides to do the Omnibots in this manner.
