Hello everyone! And welcome to what I'm currently on! It's Pyro, but with my own twist. Don't worry, I will get back to my TurboREmastered Series with Flash when I'm done with this and Guzzle. These are just projects that I've been working on piecemeal for years since roughly 2013 and I would like to complete them. They also happen to be the last 2 membres of the Wreckers I need to complete the set. But for now, on too what I have done so far, which is actually not much. Consider the above picture as a preview. Pyro(V1) himself is the one who is the closest to being complete: This mod has been done alot, but I still like it. The vast majority of the paint work is done. But he still requires a fair chunk of work. He still needs: 1. Reprolables 2. Paint apps 3. Rifle 4. Trailer 5. The rest of his team..... Here he is in vehicle mode(so far): Like I said, still needs work. At the end of the day, I'm aiming to recreate a blend of both of these: As for the trailer and the other membres of the team, the are all in various states of completion. It's actually kind of a clusterF. I'm effectivally working on 6 figures at once! This entire project is meant to be a multiple homage to various ideas across the franchise. But I will elaborate on that as I progress through this project. Hope you enjoy this and stay tuned because this is just the begining for Pyro(V1) and the Rescue Force! See you next update!
Thank you! That's very kind. And I'm looking forward to sharing how far my ambition will go with this one because I'm having alot of fun with it!
I feel you. I'm new to all this and I'm just planning out some ideas for about a half dozen customs I'd like to do and it can feel a bit overwhelming let alone actually working on all of them at once. One of the jobs I'm mulling over at the moment is turning Solar Storm Grappel into a G1 Bulkhead to go along with all of my War for Cybertron stuff. Part of that is going to be filling out the "roof" of the truck, so to that end I was wondering about that chest piece on your Pyro. Is that a separate part or is there more to it?
Looks good and interesting so far Like an Autobot version of the Combaticons. How will the combiner work? Will only Pyro's trailer be part of the combiner?
Bulkheah? NICE! All of the extra Pyro parts are from Shapeways by Javaco's Creations. The full set is this: Flame-O parts full set without gun But if you are only after the chest it's this: Flame-O parts chest I hope this helps
Yea, I know Energon OP and noticed the resemblance But I absolutely don't get what you are trying to tell with that second picture Do you mean characterwise because of Energon OP being the combined form and the limbs just being drones or literally due to the way these toys will combine? Because they are already CW figures with the fitting gimmick except of CHUG Pyro. So will PotP Inferno be the torso or CHUG Pyro? Or somehow both?
Ah! Cool!! So it folds up to form the chest and unfolds to sit on top of the truck mode. Something like that would make a great base for what I would ideally want.
Here is a quick mock-up of what I mean from roughly 2 years ago. It took me a while to find these older pictures: The idea is that the drones have semi-autonomous independance and robot modes. The POTP Inferno is not necessarily going to be his own character with no robot mode(I'm fliplopping on that). For now, I'm going to just going to make it act as Pyro's trailer, battle station/recon base/command module like RID 2001 Fire Convoy and in combined mode the exoskeletal backpack. There is NO mass shifting of any kind. This is what I'm aiming for in vehicule mode: It won't be EXACTLY like this, but this is a reinvention of all these concepts after all.
If it isn't too much trouble, could we see some WIPs? Also, this solves my "Gen Inferno or POTP Inferno" issue completely. Custom is so cool!
There will be WIP pictures when I get to the drones and the trailer. I still have alot of tweeking to do with all of them. But I am working on all of them at once Pyro himself is just(so far) a straight up paint job and shapeways upgrade kit. The only physical moddification he has, if you can call it that, is that I reversed his arms and fists. I will need to build a hitch and connetor hardpoints for him, but I'm not there yet. So I will take and show pictures of that when the time arrives, but that will most likely not be after I properly moddify the trailer. And seeing as that is the part of this project that needs to pull off the most stuff/modes, It'll take a bit and I haven't started the trailer yet What have I gotten myself into? And if you are wondering what is holding him up, I just taped him onto inferno as a test to get a better idea of what I will need to do.
That's a really cool concept, too. I don't think there's ever been a fire engine transformer that had a trailer, at least none come to mind off the top of my head.
Hello everyone. And welcome to a grab-bag of an update! First of all, an update on the state of Pyro. I added some extra details in vehicule mode: I painted the windows from the inside: As for the stripes on the back, I did it like this: You might not see it, but I used the sticker as a point of reference and etched guide lines with a ruler. I also carved out a divet and removed the tabs inside the arm panels to make them stay flush in vehicule mode. I did this because the keen panels where screwing with that forcing the panels to pop out. That's fixed now Now I just need to finish the extra details and wait for the reprolables I ordered. There are as of yet no extra details for his robot mode. I also need to decide whether I want to build him a rifle or get the Shapeways kit. Next up, I have done some work on the trailer: I started by removing the combiner head, robot head, combiner torso flaps, robot torso flap, vehicule cab and front wheels. Outside of the front wheels, I won't really need these parts. Then I moddified the legs to be extendable for exo mode: How? Well first I took the legs apart: Then I drilled a slidding rack for both of them: Then I used the original connector pegs, drilled them to fit pins, And voila! And it all collapses back to normal nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing this complete myself. But still alot of work do. But here is something that needs no more work. I finished the first drone! Fire-1! Yet ironically he is the 3rd drone I started on Firstly I'll show you what I did. I took a CW Rook and decided I wanted to mod the vehicule mode to resemble the OG Fire-1 from the Prime Force(FWI I LOVE Energon OP and the Prime force. One of my favorite toys ever!) First thing I did was take a junker Generations Thrilling Thirtee Hoist and salvaged his cad parts. Then I cut a hole in Rook's cab, drilled a hole for a top turret, cut the Hoist parts at a proper angle, and glued it all together. Next thing I did was find a Tyco fire truck, took it's ladder and cobbled a bracket using the same junker Hoist's leg hinge and styrene. I drilled a hole in the left shoulder and mountwd it all with a pin. But I don't have any pictures of the process. Sorry. I also built a small turret that is slightly adjustable but sadly, I forgot to take pictures of this too. Not proud of that. I am proud of how the paint job turned out though. I painted the 1 using the outline of it that I cut out from a Siege Autotrooper set. I'll do the exact same thing for the others. And with the help of a thin black Gundam marker: I then added several paint apps and finished it up by moddifying the head just a bit and building another turret but for the nose. I also painted a CW hand/foot gun and modded the fingers so that I could make it look like a tri-pod like drone. It is supposed to be a ditachable remote control drone. All I did was split the fingers with a hobby knife: The result of all this? I give to you all: Fire-1 AKA Pyre Function: Fire suppretion and rescue Robot mode: I would descride his personality, but he is an A.I controled drone programed for, well, firefighting and rescue who acts like an extention of Pyro more than anything else. This will be the same for all the other drones. However they are more than capable of making there own decisions to an extent. Here is his head. I was aiming visor-facemask look. He is spray and handpainted with: Rust-Oleum Satin Rustic Orange Citadel Abaddon Black Citadel Eshin Grey Citadel Administratum Grey Citadel White Scar Citadel Yriel Yellow Citadel Wazdakka Red Citadel Fire Dragon Bright Citadel Moot Green Testors Metallic Silver Gundam Panel Lining Marker Black The base mold used is CW Rook. The other parts are from a Tyco Fire truck, 2006 Battle Pack Optimus Prime, Generations Thrilling Thirtee Hoist, a junker Star Wars crossover Captain Rex AT-TE footpiece, a CW hand/foot gun, a dollarstore transforming motorcycle toy and scratbuilt parts made from styrene and putty. The reprolables are from Generations Scoutclass Windcharger/Wipeout and Igear Demolition Crew. If anybody is wondering, Rook's weapon is repurposed as the jaws of life. And his backpack can be removed and used as a shield. No mods needed, just don't pin it back in! And the ladder can rotate forward. Think of it as a homage to Fire Convoy/RID 2001 Optimus Prime. And just to show the differences from the OG: Vehicule mode: I love how this turned out. Then again I love the OG Fire-1. For those wondering, C.D.H.C means Cybertron Disaster and Hazard Corps. It's the Corp that Pyro belonged too before the war. R.F means Rescue Force as an homage to the poorly thought out but interesting European ""Rescue Force"". It's also the specific unit that Pyro and the drones comprise. And yes the lader can rotate and extend and the turrets can rotate and the top one's nozzle can go up and down a bit. But the ladder is a bit weak. I also aimed for realisim with coulors of the gas tanks and equipment. All in all, I consider Pyre to be a great start for the drones, And that will do it for this update. I still have ALOT of work to do, though I am extremly close to finishing the second drone, but I'm trucking through this one! And seeing as we are back in lockdown for a month, I have extra time again so I'm taking advantage. Hope you enjoy and I'll see you next time!
Great work there I'm always amazed how you rework the engineering in your customs. Some advise for applying stickers on curved surfaces: bend them before you apply them. Otherwise they won't last long. And clear coats are great for sealing off the edges.
You did WHAT to Rook? You do know that in some parts of the world, he's as rare as rocking-horse stool, right?
Thanks for the advice. I was always under the impresion that clear coats would melt stickers for whatever reason.
Hello everyone. And welcome to what I think is going to be a pretty good update thought I may need to split it into 2 parts. First of all, I'm done with the second drone! I'll start with the only real mod I did. In order to emulate the OG Copter-2 drone's rear end, I decided to create a booster pack. I took a CW hand/foot gun, I chopped of the gun parts(I'd already removed everything else years ago) and used a junker ROTF HFTD Breakdown hands and wrists, builts a box and cobbled it all together with the legs from a junker CW scoutclass Groove and the slightly modded rear of Apha Bravo and painted it all. The I used a junker universe minicon, I want to say Stormcloud, putty, styrene and tried to replicate Copter-2's "radar" equipent: As for the new arms, they are a Shapeways kit. I can't remember off the top of my head which one it was but I will try to post the link when I remember. So without further adeu, I present to you all: Copter-2 AKA Flightpath Function: Aerial Recon and Search and Rescue Robot mode: Being a A.I drone tied to Pyro's will, Flightpath doesn't have much personallity to call his own. Thought he has been observed to be somewhat jovial and eager to help those in need. He is spray and handpainted with: Rust-Oleum Satin Black Rust-Oleum Satin Granite Citadel White Scar Citadel Abaddon Black Citadel Wazdakka Red Citadel Moot Green Citadel Eshin Grey Citadel Flash Gitz Yellow Testors Metallic Silver The base mold used is CW Alpha Bravo. The other pars are a shapeways upgrade kit for the arms, a CW hand/foot gun, a junker CW scoutclass Groove, a junker ROTF HFTD Breakdown, a junker Universe minicon Stormcloud(?) and leftover project scraps from CW Offroad(scraps from when I did my Galvatronus and the Dreads). The reprolables are from CW scoutclass Groove and Igear Demolition Crew. And here's a very fun thing that Flighpath's backpack can do: JETPACK! WEEEE! Vehicule mode: I ultimatly like how it turned out. But how does it hold up to the OG? Still love it. Another one in the bag. Pyre wanted the company Buuuut, what about the other? Well.... Um, the term WIP exists for a reason, right? But I can share this much about Digger-3: Despite the horror show that I was exepecting form the spray painting(I'm REALLY out of practice as I don't do it much), to my delight there is virutally no cleanup needed, just 1 micro smudge on one of the treads. But that's all I got for him. I plan on modding the turret to resemble the OG Digger-3 as much as possible in vehicule mode. As for Submarine-4, seeing as I started him 2 years ago and got 95% of the spraypainting done then as well, I got alot of pics(and there are more that I can't add for the sake of brievety). This is what I started with: A mess of leftover parts from CW Blades and Alpha Bravo from a failed 1st attempt at what ultimately became my CW Evac from my EGS09 project and parts from a small toy submarine. Then I found a plastic easter egg and carefully quartered it. And after carving styrene in the appropriate shape and removing the nose from Alpha Bravo, I mashed it toghrter for this results: Here are some test configuration for arm mode: Next up was building the first half of what will be the backpack/new rear end. I started by drilling pins into where the back fins used to be and built some sliding brackets(fun fact, when I did this 2 years ago, it was only my 2nd ever attempt at making sliding brackets ) Then I took the fans from a junker Cybertron Shortround, carved out the space I needed, placed more brackets and placed them on the pins. So skipping ahead a bit to the summer of 2019, this is what I have so far, minus the fact that I did paint in the vents since these picture: And that is pretty much it. I haven't done any grandiose work on him since last summer. I still need to finish modding the backpack, adding extra physical details, finish the paint work and I plan on building an extra piece to go under him in vehicule mode to further resemble the OG Submarine-4. And I'm pretty satisfied with this one, so I will leave it at that for now. Hope you enjoyed this one and I will see you next update!
