Considering he generally comes through, I wouldn't believe the liars like Ryan Exum or Brian Buck. They just decided to slander the guy because Ryan is bias when it comes to most Chinese people and sellers...

Ryan and Brian are just biased because "Lionel" has connections, I personally checked him out myself when I visited Vancouver back in Sept. He's solid.

Possible. As usual, I take it with a grain of salt about FT releases...Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

You just gotta love the irony of it all. He goes by and basically is the IRL Lionel Hutz.

In all seriousness, aside from all the rumors flying around and such, I wouldn't be surprised if he at least is one of the next, since we already saw him in a pretty much finished prototype state, just not painted.

We don’t even have set price for this, do we?

my PO at TCP is still there, albeit with the old MSRP which won’t be honored at all.,

Thought they had reset the prices? TFsource has him at 150 which actually wouldn't suprise me and BW at $220

    Totally agree.

In previous times, FT would release colour prototype pics and announce a release date about 6 months away and solicit the pre-orders. We don't know if they are still doing this because all we have had is two re-issues this year (which are released alot quicker) and two delayed bots from last year. In terms of anything new, we haven't seen anything since the trailbreaker redesign pics in July last year I believe: 9 months ago. If FT is still approaching the same sort of release window as they had previously done with new moulds, if they released colour pics today, we'd be looking at a release around September. But it's all just guessing.

Interesting that it's sort of reversed from last year with FT and XTB. XTB released/announced hardly anything throughout the year and now they are making announcements all the time. FT were releasing figures all over the place last year and this year anything with regards to new releases has ground to a halt so far.

Maybe xtb and ft have an agreement to alternate busy release years? Which I would respect, and help both companies to maintain succees and healthy competition

I don’t think the person you are referring to is by definition a “scalper” per se, he’s not buying all the stock up at online retailers and then jacking up the prices and reselling. He’s buying them from China directly, the same source is available to you or me, and I’ll admit the process isn’t easy without understanding Chinese, so he’s charging a “premium” for the service he is providing. But it can be done because there is a whole topic on this right here on TFW2005 and YouTube videos on the subject.

Well, it probably depends on how you define scalper. To me, the common definition that I've always understood what is scalper is, is also the first from Google:

A person who resells shares or tickets at a large or quick profit.

So to me anyone that buys from China and sells at a premium would be a scalper.

And the fact that anyone can do that (I myself also buy directly from China only) does not mean that somes that does buy there and sells at a premium is not a scalper.

Anyway, I don't have a problem in itself with it, I just found it curious that the FBs groups have their "pet" scalpers (who may or may not be in cohorts with the admins, and this second thing I think is a little problematic because of transparency).

Wouldn't this definition then include all the stores that sell FTs (or any other items)? They are all in the business of selling items for a profit.

Yeah, but I can understand where it can get muddy.

We're talking about separating scalpers from distributors, right?

Let's say there are 5k units available from the manufacturer. 100 stores each buy 50 units at half MSRP, and then distribute them to their customers for full MSRP. Business as usual.

Now imagine for the 2nd run a new distributor pops up and buys 50 of units, but lists them at 120% MSRP. Okay, well the free market should sort that out. Buyers will skip that distributor until all the other stock has run out. And then at that point, the new distributor's gamble might pay off. They sat on product at an inflated price, while every other store else sold theirs. There was a risk that for whatever reason buying might drop off before people came around to buy the markup product. I don't like it, but it's a smart business risk, and I wouldn't consider it scalping.

But the calculus with small batch collectibles shifts quickly. New Fans Toys product almost universally sells out, so it's a good product to gamble with.

Let's imagine the new distributor convinces FT to sell them 500 units this time (10% of the total run), and doesn't even release them into the market until they're sure stock has dried up everywhere else. Then they finally release their units at 200% MSRP. Well, that starts to feel a bit more like scalping. I don't know that I personally would go that far, but I would be frustrated if the manufacturer was letting someone manipulate the market for their product that way.

They are stores (and to be a store, you need to be a legal business, although I know some are not), not a person doing this for their own profit, usually on the margin of being legal, if not totally illegal.

Bottom line here is buy from where you are comfortable with. Doesn't really matter where others buy their stuff. Please move that discussion somewhere else. No new news for FT-25 Outrider. Thanks.

You are right on this being discussed here, thanks, will stop here.

On the other hand, although I agree that anyone can buy from where they want, I don't think this prevents a discussion about such topics. But not in this thread.

Right. This is a thread about Outrider. So any discussion here about Outrider in any capacity is fair game. Last I checked, only mods can dictate when to stop speaking on a topic.

Disappointment is not hate. And Trailbreaker got three molds from 3 different companies already.
