In Skids' case that's not necessarily a good thing.

 

Well if any of y'all want my two cents on the aesthetic change, which I assume you wouldn't anyway.

I literally don't see how Takara would have done an MP Skids any other way tbh, given the wonky animation model, and yeah I know it's a bit of a bummer to some that it's basically like return of the phase 2 MP figures but I think it's just Takara saying, "Aight, sales for our phase 3 MPs aren't going so well cuz of qc issues and how we jacked up the pricing, so let's just go back to what worked and see how that goes."
hence why these two figures are affordable now.

As for if I will get him, I just don't care enough about G1 skids in the cartoon to add him to my small MP collection.

Well, if it hasn’t already been said a thousand times. Whereas I’m glad that the MP line is ostensively returning to its golden era approach of real, licensed, and well-detailed car models, I started selling mine when CW/TR/POTP started giving us authentic G1 styling (not IDW). When WfC hit, and the “mini-masterpiece” G1 began, I sold a few more.

Long story short. Happy for those who like Skids (I have his G1 Takara Collection #3, so I’m good), and whereas I appreciate the return to what I consider the better MP figures (and reasonable prices), it’s a bit too little, too late for me. I’m officially done with Masterpiece.

 

I don't think I'll be picking up Skids or Reboost, but I LOVE the fact that they exist.
They look like a lot of fun and it's cool that they're more affordable than other recent MP offerings.
Can't wait to see people post pics of Hound's Spike on the Motocompo. If TT ends up offering a Skids colored Motocompo separately somehow (as an exclusive or something) I could see myself picking that up, just to be able to pose Spike with it.

Was just listening to an old dubstep mix in the gym. Definitely gets the blood pumping!

 

Though not the best looking vehicle...   Skids looks great! They both look great, but I’m not familiar with Reboost. Was he a diaclone or something?

 

If I sign out of my Amazon JP account, I can see the Skid listing that is sold by Amazon, but when I put it in my cart to check out, it says it can't be shipped to my address. I wonder why they have Reboost available internationally, but are being stingy with Skids?

I placed an order with HLJ, but they are already $5 more before shipping, which is brutal from HLJ lately (even more than AJP). For those in the US that completed an order for Reboost, what was your total cost with taxes (if any) and shipping?

 

‘Le Castlevania - Go Back (Grum remix)’ is my go to gym song when I need a kick in the grits. Makes me think I can lift way more than I actually can, and run just a few more minutes than I should.

 

Outside of so 80s and 90s Hard rock and Heavy Metal, Some of the JJBA OPs kick ass and really get the blood pumping.

 

I’m seeing the same thing, it is strange that they’re doing that for Skids and not for Reboost. Hopefully the listing will open up for international customers soon.

Mine came out to ￥8,991 total, or $82.48 USD by today’s exchange rate. I still expect AJP to discount it before release, too.

 

That's strange. In the past, all items at Amazon UK/USA have shown to me, but at the US site, it would state I couldn't send some items outside the US only at the checkout, whereas in the UK version, it would inform me at the product page?

As for some items being available, while others that are not, a similar thing happened with me at the US site. The official, Amazon-sold "Nvidia Shield TV" was available to export to Japan, but only the 16gb version. The "pro" version (with a larger harddrive) was blocked. Amazon told me it was at the request of Nvidia themselves, but it really didn't make any sense.

 

I'm honestly stoked for the people who don't like Toon-accurate G1 MPs, this is a big win for them. And for the toon accurate people (like myself) X-Transbots Savant nails it. Great time to be a G1 MP Collector!

 

I've emailed Amazon Japan to ask about international sales of Skids, as no chat available at 3:45pm BST (GMT+1).

Meant to ask about the eurozone comment... how so? Base price is the same, vat is comparable, no customs duty due. Only shipping costs could be different, and it's arguably cheaper to fly stuff to Heathrow than random airports in Europe.

Wondering where you're seeing such cheaper options? The only things I've seen are people quoting £45-50, but that is before shipping and could easily get snagged at the border for vat.
