While it would be the dream to have all the dinobots at once, hasbro can only release so many leaders a year. And with all the different lines going, I assume they don't want to clog the budget with dinobots

 

Exactly. I’m just grateful that Hasbro isn’t “anxious” about releasing all five of them over a two year period. I can’t recall Hasbro ever doing something like this with a mainline TF series.

Typically you just get Grimlock and that’s it. Hasbro basically thinks only the most popular dino will sell and pretends the other four don’t exist.

 

Daniel shares plastic with Slag and doesn't require 1) translucent plastic and 2) that much paint. If you got the Quintesson with Slag, he'd be solid white.

 

Don't forget to put in the metal wall he got crushed with  

 

Yeah, I get the logistics end. I'm looking at it from the what would have been the best 1986 pair. It makes sense with Wheelie and Grimlock, since the idea of Wheelie riding Grimlock actually happens in the movie. I don't recall seeing Daniel on Slag...unless it was in that final group shot on Cybertron?

 

He would've made more sense with Arcee had she not been in ER and Kingdom. Also no Daniel isn't with Slag at all in thr movie not even the final shot.

 

I seem to remember the G1 toy had a double barrel rifle and a missile launcher. (And his sword of course.) Weirdly, in that scene, Grimlock’s double barrel rifle is interpreted as being the missile launcher, and the barrel itself is fired as a missile. 

Interesting to see Megatron remain large in his gun form and attach himself to Starscream’s underside. Usually he shrinks and becomes a hand weapon for his officers, so that’s different. I forgot that scene!

 

I'm still debating whether I should pre-order, but those stunted legs are hideous. I'd just leave it in Dino mode.

 

I wish Takara still made their own versions of releases. That way we could get better painted pieces, rather than the non-painted gray plastic we are getting for the horns and the collar bit around the neck(forget what it's called on Dinosaurs). I don't necessarily have a problem with the stumpy legs, though. Just makes him look more round and well armored, like a tank.

 

True, Basically the split is that the Dinobots go with HotRod and Kup. While Daniel goes with the rest of the new cast, being Magnus, Springer and Arcee. So there is no real connection with slag. Also if this is the line gimmick, what will they do with Sludge and Swoop, and dare I say Snarl? They can't be having other mini accesoires figures for each one can they? So I feel this is just tossed in along to add more than just a blaster for the figure. But then if they give the swords with the other 3. That would feel pretty lame in regard to Grimlock and Slag. since they don't have their swords. But I don't see any other character being thrown in.

That would be the frill. Though I feel the figures are good enough for what it is. I am more bugged with the needless little figures they give along. Daniel being the most pointless to put with Slag.

Hmm maybe its the camera angle or perspective, for some reason Grimlock looks alot more proportionate to me

OK I see it now, it's Slag's gigantic chest. Grimlock has a separate mid section, while Slag is just one big chest piece.

 

Since already been released why not the draw bridge controller instead?

 

But there will be a SS86 Megatron that turns into a gun, right.....?

Not sure if "too soon?" applies when it's been 10 years since the last mainline and 4 years since the last Masterpiece release of Megatron in gun mode happened, but go ahead. Give it a whirl.

Yep, he's coming out tomorrow and is going to be an exact replica of a walther p-38, leakers have indicated it'll even include a laser sight

 

Always wondered why recent versions of megatron are silver rather then an off white color from sunbow. It's been many a year since we got a mainline proper white megatron with the exception of the first wfc game megatron with had that off white color and was a solid figure.

I know the g1 megs is silver but why not sunbow white? Am I the only one who wants that color scheme. He can still turn into a tank because you know laws and all that but be sunbow color

 

I always saw him as more of a gray than white, sunbow was pretty inconsistent with that because looking at screen shots it really depended on the episode
