i think the lack of military elements will be interesting, im guessing this means the film will focus more on the characters than the action kinda like bumblebee, speaking of which now that i think about the military element of bumblebee feels kinda thrown in, perhaps it made more since when it was a prequel to bayverse to help tie in sector 7 but when they changed that it feels unnecessary, the could've easily rewritten it to have blitzwing chasing bee in the forest and have shatter and dropkick have someway to track bee, perhaps investigating blitzwing's last known location

also i disagree with saying bayverse fetishized military imagery, sure you can say they framed it in a positive light but it's not like it's attack on titan

I could see a spinoff show about Sector 7 working potentially.

Complexity of wars? You mean invading countries to steal their natural resources. It's very high IQ stuff for sure.

Anyways, according to our boy @MacFormer97 Soto has claimed that his film will be a bit more gritty when compared to Bumblebee, anyone have any idea what that could possibly entail? Hopes? Concerns? Let's hear it.

I imagine either higher stakes, or a more mature theme or atmosphere.

I think more stealth will be utilized this time. And Bay did fetishize the military just like he did explosions, models, sports cars, and an overly violent Optimus Prime.

I think it'd be pretty awesome if a movie tried to truly utilize the stealth angle since the movies never really indulged in that element, there's so much you could do with it.

I’m down for more of the heart going forward and action when needed to balance it out. But I truly think the whole “robots in disguise” element would be great to see again. Part of the brand’s identity.

I can't agree more. "Robots in Disguise" is what defines Transformers. I feel like that aspect of Transformers has been sorely missing for a while. We've been getting a lot of stories that take place on Cybertron and/or lack humans (which basically eliminates the aspect of disguise). A story like that here and there is cool, but it does feel like it's missing part of the essence of Transformers. I'm ready to get back to stories that have an element of disguise and stealth. They need to do something with their altmodes other than just use them as a method of transportation.

More gritty, prolly meaning more deaths since no humans.

That must've been a thing from the comics, since it certainly wasn't a thing in the G1 cartoon.

They did it in the Marvel comics back in the 80s (even though the Decepticons weren't really keeping themselves a secret) and in the IDW comics, as well as most shows after Beast Wars.

Part of it happening in Marvel is also why I think something similar to one of the UK timelines is the main "G1" from that show's continuity, since it's the closest to a "Secret War" as Beast Megatron called it.

Maybe we're finally getting that psychological-thriller Red Alert spin-off film we always didn't know we needed starring all three Red Alerts trying to figure who is the true Red Alert.

I won't be surprised if there involves a love triangle between Red Alert, Inferno, and Firestar.
