Vehicle mode just isn't very accurate, that's all.

 

It looks accurate to me, what am I missing?

 

Has 8 wheels instead of his usual 6, cab sticks out too far from the trailer, front top of trailer lacks the detail of the masterpiece/cartoon model, tires have black rims instead of silver, windshield is missing the red paint that gives his windshield its distinctive shape, exhaust pipes on the side are broken up and not continuous.


He should look more like this.


Heck, this is a third party Legends class figure and they managed to get it right.

 

Flame Commander there feels a bit...Stumpy? Short? Trailer isn't long enough.

 

Cab sticks out pretty far here. As for eight wheels vs six. Meh, doesn't bother me.

 

Agreed, trailer should be a tad longer but everything else is great aesthetics wise. Also, there's no spoiler visible when there should be. But still, I wish Kingdom was a blown up version of this guy.

I am just a little bit disappointed by Rodimus' vehicle mode, and wish that the cab was a bit more sunken in. Rodimus Prime's truck mode is one of my favorite alt modes in the entire series.

I really wish that they instead went with a g1 toy inspired flatbed truck mode, with his legs forming the bed, but far more fleshed out than the G1 toy's "literally just a pair of legs" issue, mainly by having a pair of wheels. It'd make Rodimus' alt mode more unique from Hot Rod and let the trailer hang over the cab a bit more.

That being said his robot mode is utterly fantastic. The face is a little too old for me but I still like it. I'm sure he'll look incredible with Galvatron.

 

Honestly I kinda like how much Rodimus' cab part sticks out. It feels a lot more aggressive, which I think goes well with the "not your daddy's Rodimus" vibes this figure has despite its geewunniness. Even as a kid Rodimus' vehicle mode in the cartoon felt a little too roundish and tame for my tastes, especially with how slick Hot Rod was. I only wish they had found a way to make the grills on the trailer more continuous, even if it meant partsforming. That and some silver paint on the wheels, though at least that's easy to fix.

One thing I would've liked to see translated into Kingdom Rodders from that concept art are those oopmhy wheels. They really give that extra something to the vehicle mode's presence, though they'd probably be a pain to integrate into the robot mode without messing up is silhouette.

I wouldn't mind eight wheels if he was supposed to have eight heels, it's the fact that they're just kinda peeking out.

That said, they'll probably be all but invisible in-hand under most indoor lighting. But sill, would've been keen if they folded away. Also yeah I wish he had the dip in the windshield. Everything else is a non-issue.

 

The windscreen is also twice as long as it should be, totally throwing off the look and proportions for me.

It's awesome that you love the figure though!

I understand his toy is not 100 percent accurate to his G1 design, but in my book if he is close enough I'm fine with it. No figure is perfect. I will agree his cab is a little far and it exposes what I think is his arms or legs.

 

Considering this will probably be the last/only shot that they will take at a "cartoon accurate G1 Rodimus" it's just a shame they didn't go for full on screen accuracy. Especially at this price point, they definitely could have made it work.

 

What makes you think this will be the last time? Hasbro releases G1 style figures all the time. Potp Rodimus wasn't released that long ago. I'm sure a new figure will be made again at some point.
