Sideways could literally not change a single thing from Dino’s engineering and look the part. I’d like changes to his chest and shoulders though.

There's official concept art from ROTF where megatron was originally intended to be a triple changer in the sequel being a tank, a sort of hybrid mode of a tank and his robot upper torso, and also a jet mode very similar to his 2007 mode but with extra treads in the design to incorporate the tank design, and the robot mode too.

Something of that calibur would have to be a leader class price point if they wanted it to be scale accurate as a tall voyager. I would've LOVED to have something like this in a toy form. Similar to how season 4 of Transformers Animated planned to have Megatron be a triple changer and had designs but was cancelled. Luckily a dedicated fan here designed a 3d printed iteration of that for all to enjoy.

I think those other 3 megatron concept art designs are quite badass too

 

Man, I'm glad I have no interest in Sideways. The Dino mold is one of the more egregious examples of Studio Series' tendency to just fold most of the vehicle mode onto the back. His entire torso is just back kibble, with the proper detailing being restricted to just a thin piece of plastic thrown over it. I'm hoping this is just Hasbro being desperate for a Dino retool and not that they actually think the mold is acceptable, because if this becomes the standard, then I'm out.

I'm glad that we're getting more AOE designs, especially the Trax. Out of the Bay sequels, I probably enjoy this one the most, so I've been wanting the film's main canon fodder. I was afraid the Stinger repaint was all we'd get. I just hope they're not another Dino mold reuse, since they do share a lot of visual similarities with him (more than Sideways does, at least in robot mode).

If they're making a new Evasion Optimus, I do hope he has better clearances for his transformation. My old one broke recently, the clear plastic grill snapping as I transformed it. I loved that figure but frankly, I'm surprised it took so many years for that to happen. Also, I hope the new one has a decent paint job. I want Netflix Sparkless Bot levels of rust paintwork.

I hope Hound is a Leader and that he's appropriately fat and armed with ever single gun he had in the movie. As for Crosshair, I'm one of the only people who doesn't hate his AOE toy, but I'll be interested in seeing if they can make something better. Funnily enough, someone in this thread had pointed out that Dino can kinda do the trench coat thing and honestly, if they moved some of the back kibble to the trench coat, that would probably be my preferred use of that mold, assuming it's a Helicopter Drift level of retool.

 

So honest question for everyone has any of the SS AoE stuff actually shelf warmed in your areas? Because none of it has in my area Stinger and Grimlock were pretty rare after the first few months of SS in 2018, Lockdown had a few months on shelves before disappearing, Shadow Raider I only recall seeing twice on shelves, I only saw KSI Sentry once on store shelves, KSI Boss was probably the most common Voyager from about summer to early winter of 2019 and was a little shelfwarmy but nowhere as bad as Hightower or Heli Dropkick And Heli Drift sold out pretty fast after I grabbed mine at Target I only saw it like once after that. So unless all the AoE fans are in my area I don't think SS AoE has done bad.

 

Hoping the new Evasion Prime will only have translucent plastic for windows and light piped eyes instead of forming part of the hinges. The latter is what broke some previous copies since the tolerances and clearances were very tight during transformation. Also hoping for a semblance to an accurate paint job(molding in dark plastic while drybrushing lighter paint over it should work well, see SS leader Grimlock from 2018). I’d also love to see a G1 colored battle mask version at some point that doesn’t have a cheap looking deco. Legendary managed to have cheap appearance due to that light grey Takara used. I think of all official Evasion Prime releases, Autobots Unite and the Nemesis repaints had the best deco.

Been a while since I've been here. Probably because it's been a while since we got new SS bots.

the cynical part of me wants to say the ksi trooper is going to be the Sentry but red/silver/black but if it's a proper chevy trax then i can die happy

 

I think they'll make him a Trax this time around. I heard a rumor that KSI Sentry came out the way he was because he was supposed to be Dino but don't quote me on that.

 

Hmmm, well I mean more give him the space "jet" mode he had in the movie, I actually really like this! I think this idea has some legs, and has got me curious now. I know this is something people have already discussed, but what if SS branched into doing concept art?

 

If it's an actual trax I'll be really tempted to army build like 5 of them, but also afraid to do so if they're gonna do repaints of it in different colors.

I'd love for SS to do concept art but also we do really want SS to do the characters we've waited so long for like The Fallen, Sideways, Devcon (it's nice to dream), Que etc.

Maybe in the far future Hasbro can consider doign figures of concept art designs and call it "Concept Series". I'd love a figure of The Fallen in his earth vehicle bomber jet mode (that design looked SO badass), and concept art ROTF triple changer megatron, ROTF Jetfire as a tall buff more human bipedal form from early concept art ("massive black codename") before they added the old man aspect of his character, maybe Breakaway, a DOTM Optimus that has his trailer convert into parts forming armor pieces, that one design of ROTF Arcee as a silver mercedes car mode (would buy that in a heartbeat).

 

Made a better version of Sideways. What do you guys think?

Last time I went out, you can still grab AOE Grimlock in some stores.
Otherwise no. Lockdown and Drift in particular were quite hard to find locally.

 

Waiting tirelessly for some reveals that aren't for SS86.

The optimist in me says they'll all be Traxes and come in all four colours. One variation, starting with the red one, will be released per wave over the course of four waves as to not clog shelves.

2021 will be year of the Trax.

If HasTak's attempts doesn't look as good or even better than this I'll be a little disappointed.
