I just replaced the wings on mine to get rid of some of the overspray. In the event that XTB doesn't help you out, let me know and I can let you see the spare wings I have for this guy.

 

Cheers mate, thanks for the offer! XTB sent me a replacement pair. They're in the mail as we speak. I intend to leave them however they are. I will repaint his eyes though.

 

I have batteries in the original Andras' head for his light-up feature - which I admittedly never use - and have considered repainting the new Andras' eyes to make them stand out a bit more. This was something I did do already with Black Apple's Thunder Leader because even though my copy was new, his eyes were kind of chipped and faded, so when I changed out the face, I had to sand down the pegs to put the new face on and applied some brighter blue coating to make the pop a bit more.

Usually, I wear gloves when handling certain figures too, so this is sometimes really tedious. Let me know how it goes though because I'll probably follow your footsteps at some point.

 

If you have an airbrush, you can retain the light-up feature if you spray the eyes with a thin enough layer of paint. I did this for my Zeta Superion with a mix of red and silver paint.
admittedly I myself never use light-up features as well.

 

I have to say, I hate the new colors on this guy. I tried to get the original but the original had issues I don’t want to deal with. I just need to learn how to tear down and repaint this guy, when I retire, or live with it.  

 

I like the original better, but the new one is pretty great unless you want to go as show-accurate as possible.

They match up well to the alternate options available for the Unicron trio, and the feet are tolerable depending on how often you transform them.

 

You make a very valid point, hate to be that guy, waiting for FT to make a toon version.

 

I was in that boat for quite a while until I decided that I'd rather own Andras for three or four years and then decide which of them I prefer. The temptation to think that the grass is always greener can bite you on the ass if you end up waiting for a subpar release.

 

I do own the new toon version, only reason I posted what I did. I do like him, just the color kills it for me, but definitely best available offering on the market.

 

What are trying to say (sorry, non-native-english-preson here)?
Do you like/prefer the earlier version? The new, more blue-ish version, or are neither of them satisfying?
Is Andras satisfying at all? Do you prefer the first, or second release? Do you wish to get rid of Andras, and get anything else?
Again, I`m sorry for those questions, but for me it is not quite clear, what you`re trying to say.

 

No problem. I very much prefer the first version. The second does have nice paint, but the first is my preference.



I am curious to see if we get another version of Scourge from FansToys though.

 

They should've just painted v2 the same color as v1. Makes no sense why they made v2 that dark. If they made any color change then they could've gone a half shade darker and a hair less saturation and it would've been perfectly fine. If they really wanted to push the envelope and get wacky they could've even added a very slight tinge of purple too. Instead they go with a really dark blue that i can't find even one image that matches. That dark blue actually prevented me from buying v2 because it's so far off from the correct color.

Whoever picks some of these bot colors at XTB needs a new monitor or something. Maybe they're using an old CRT monitor that has a dying tube and everything is getting dark on it.

 

Just got my Scourge V2 from Terry TF Club. Nice deal with already a low price plus 3% off through the end of the month. Finally decided to bite on Andras after having The Swarm V1 on my shelf for a year. I guess I'm a sucker for a swarm leader.

What I wasn't expecting was an extra set of the large wings tucked under the plastic tray. I've only got Andras half unfolded and can see the overspray on the inside of his large wings. But it looks like the batch that Terry is shipping already has the replacement wings without the overspray packed inside.

I'll still have to sit and look if the dark blue on V2 is too dark now that I have him in hand. I'm about 1/3 of the way through Season 2 so in the next month or two I hope to finally get on to Season 3 and then the Japanese episodes. A full viewing marathon this time including more appearances by Scourge that I never watched properly (the Japanese series were only a sprinkle here and there).

 

This, exactly this. I own V2 and I do like the mold and the upgrades to the feet. The color is what kills it for me.

 

Nice info about them coming shipped with replacement wings now. Might have to look into that at some of the US sellers, but I just looked at a the 5th episode of 5 Faces of Darkness specifically to compare the color for the V2, and at least from this episode, and most of the pics I've seen online, they went a shade too dark on the blue. It's not terrible, but it's off enough for me to really be on the fence about it. Hearing about possible replacement wings coming with the figures tho has me leaning back toward a purchase tho.

 

I've got a few days of quarantine ahead of me (not positive yet) so I thought I'd put that time to good use









Now to figure out an alt mode display too.
