But I highly doubt that Hasbro won't call him Slug. So maybe the title of the thread will change to SS86 Slug when he's "officially" revealed.

 

Selects Volcanicus is a second take on the concept. Takara redecoed the Dinobots that form him into cartoon-accurate color schemes. The SS86 Dinobots don’t combine into Volcanicus because they didn’t combine in TFTM.

To compare and contrast, the Studio Series Arcee sisters combine when they didn’t in the movie because the combined form existed in concept sketches. Studio Series figures are directly adapted from the movies (and in some cases, the preliminary character artwork for those movies*), so the final figures that Hasbro makes officially exist somewhere before they get put on store shelves.

*like WWII Bumblebee, for example

Slag comes with Daniel
Sludge will come with spring loaded eyes
Swoop will come with a free MP3 download from rap group Tag Team called Swoop There it is. 
Snarl will come with a letter from his attorney requesting his scenes be added back into the movie and referred to as The Snarl Cut: Transformers: the Movie.

Looks pretty fantastic, the absence of visible forearm gaps this time around is a sight for sore eyes. The little exo-suit clad Daniel looks okay, but I would've taken an energo sword or a firebreath effect part istead of it any day of the week. it's interesting to see Slag's tail ending up on his back. Never had any G1 Dinobots aside form Grimlock as a kid, but I seem to recall the the original Slag toy having his tail on the back in robot mode as well. At the very least it is a pretty decorative tail with its golden hue, so I don't mind it not being completely hidden in robot mode. If I ever get this guy I might try paint his head black (or maybe dark blue for some Marvel goodness).

 

If Grimlock's any indication, then good golly I'll take one of these hate-filled triceratopses in a jiffy.

Not sure if it's mistransformed, but it's neat that you can either tuck the rear legs into the robot legs, or leave them out as an homage to the toy. Probably makes toy color repaints inevitable...

 

Dude if they don\'t do the rest of the Dinobots in this scale I am gonna flip a table. I wouldn\'t mind Sludge in a Leader class but if he could be Commander class that would be amazing!

 

Hope we get G2 versions.

 

Should have articulated fingers like the other studio series figures, other than that looks very good for a Hasboro main line figure

Daniel looks like a waste of plastic though. Couldn’t we have gotten a non transformable Kranix instead?

only one studio series figure has fingers and its for the matrix

 

But the only SS figure with finger articulation is Hot Rod.

Even if Slag is off by a few inches from Grimlock, he still looks like a totally fantastic cartoon accurate figure.

Sludge and Snarl are rumored to be coming next year and will most likely be Leaders. Swoop will be a Voyager (which I think is also being released next year).

 

Nice. I’ll have to paint the head black and his eyes red. Maybe some silver on his head crown piece (whatever it’s called). Love it but the cartoon colours are killing me. Hopefully they don’t release a toy colours set down the road. I’m sure Nonnef will cook up a sword for him.
