Can I please give you some advice on this? You a) shouldn't feel awkward about it and b) definitely don't want to pursue anyone who has a legitimately condescending attitude toward it. If you brought over a date and she jokes about it, that's one thing, but anyone who actually acts like they need an explanation for it probably shouldn't receive anything beyond, "I promise you, I think most of your hobbies and interests are stupid, too." It'll probably change the topic quickly because it's not what most people would expect to hear in that spot.

My partner is incredibly accepting of my hobbies - which, at this point, take up an entire spare bedroom - mostly because it replaced another hobby (ahem) which was absurdly risky, illegal, destructive, occasionally violent and even more expensive. While I'm not looking to get back into the dating pool, in the event that I did, if I were to go out with a woman who had a condescending approach to buying and selling collectibles, I would absolutely respond by saying, "I started buying them when I stopped using and selling drugs; I think it was a good trade-off."

Two other things stick out to me. First, posing and converting TFs is something to do in the physical world. People are so attached to their phones and computers that I'm convinced that any physical hobby is a rarity today.

Anyone who collects TFs would probably be fine if the internet went out for a few hours.

Also - TFs introduce you to modding and painting. Dioramas. Social events. Lots of little avenues. I'm planning on picking up an airbrush soon. I'm also going to attend conventions once the US is vaccinated. This is a real hobby, beyond the collecting aspects even.

I haven't dated anyone in a couple years at this point, but I typically only want to date women who have a solid amount of hobbies. If your SO doesn't have hobbies, then you start to feel responsible for their entertainment. I find that to be stressful.

This is by far my most expensive hobby, but I have a few. I think everyone should.

It’s also important to point out that just because it’s considered more socially acceptable for a person to collect shot glasses or episodes of reality TV on their DVR doesn’t actually make one better than the other.

And as much as I like sports, watching football is the same thing as watching the 17 different variations on the Housewives shows.

I’m not sure that someone’s hobbies say a lot about them... But someone’s opinions of which hobbies aren’t acceptable? That probably says something.

I agree. Not that you need/want advice from us but just be confident like: "Oh yeah, I collect figures, I love the nostalgia feel of it" and just come off a little super sure of yourself. I did that and it worked out fine. Now she's my wife :p

Otherwise you could do the whole 50 Shades of Gray thing:

A bit late of a response to this but if you are still haven't fixed you Gabriel there are a couple guides to get you through fixing your loose shoulders and hips. I made a mini-guide for the shoulders here. There's also this guide for the hips. It's a bit more involved but it's not that hard. The guides page also needs to be translated if you don't understand Spanish.

I had both problems you are experiencing and those should help you fix the looseness and my Gabe is rock solid now.

Thank you! I was able to figure out the shoulders and got them tightened up. The hips I kinda gave up on, but I may give it all a try soon. They aren't too bad but I definitely wouldn't mind them being tighter.

The hips may look intimidating to tighten up but it really isn't as bad as it seems. If I can do it, as nervous as I am with fixing my Transformers, then anyone can.

My only advice if you ever decide to tackle the hips is be extra careful with the screws. There were old reports that they could break while unscrewing so don't crank on them really hard while you're unscrewing them. Use gentle but firm pressure until they start to move just to be extra, extra safe. When you re-screw them in only tighten them until they are just tight enough. I had no such problem with them, though. All screw handled me tearing it apart 3 times with no problems.

I appreciate the advice guys. I've only gotten back to collecting again after taking more than a decade off and from what I've noticed, I don't see many ppl talking about this hobby unless you're in a forum or group chat. In the back of my head, I always wonder who's really into this like I am. Seems almost taboo to talk about in public lmao, so to talk to a female about this always made me a little nervous. How I think store employees look at mainline collectors, I can only image what a regular person would think of this hobby lol but I'm not ashamed of it just not something I go out my way to tell people about. When I do tell people though, I always like to say "Some ppl collect Paintings, others Statues, Me? I collect Transformers......Expensive ones" lmao. Anyway, here's my copy of Gabriel, can't wait to get Fans Hobby Double Evil, I'm curious to see how they scale with one another.

My FT-20 Terminus took a tumble yesterday and the leg snapped off 8(

So now I'm thinking of giving Gabriel a try and was wondering if there are any shops that still have him for sale?

Robotoybase.com has him for 249.90 plus shipping. But the shipping is murder lol. IDK where you are but it would cost me $221 for shipping to NY with the full original box. For shipping without the box it would be $197. :lol  Check them out so you can see what shipping would be for you.

I checked a bunch of stores but not all of them. That said you are easily going to pay over 400 to get him from eBay or RTB. The cheapest with shipping I found him was $430 on ebay from mascotzone. Good luck on your hunt.

I checked RTB out, and yea shipping here is pretty much the same. 450 bones is a little more then I was hoping to pay for so if anyone is thinking of getting rid of their Gabriel, please let me know!

Your only option might be to wait (and hope) DX9 reissues him again sometime in the future, that's if they ever get around to following through with their currently planned reissues. You could also go to the Wanted Items section and put out the feelers for a kind soul to sell you one for a decent price.

I've seen some pre-orders up on taobao and DX9 seems to be re-releasing things, so it could definitely get re-issued after Capone and whatever else they're doing.
